Not even against an NCAA school. Definitely a bizarre scheduling choice by JMU. Not sure why we scheduled an NAIA school from Pittsburgh with 199 total male undergrads. If we wanted a warm up game, it feels like we could have scheduled one of the two D3 schools within 10 minutes of our campus, sort like ODU did with Virginia Wesleyan.

Oh well. Looking forward to our real home opener against ODU.

That is bizarre. It's like someone knew someone and owed them a favor. Looking forward to next weekend! Won't be able to make it to the game this time but definitely doing a Flobee trial.

If I remember correctly we had a D1 team scheduled (EDIT: It was Fordham that backed out, and Carlow was already playing VMI... they gave us a call and said they'd play) but they backed out of the game. So I think Carlow was all we could get as a replacement

That makes sense. Got to fill it in with whatever's available if someone backs out.

First team to 80 wins.

Pre SBC, I would a have made a stink about scheduling a Carlow "so we can win and be good" but post SBC, all good.

Great scheduling move Bourne and Byington!

USM traditionally doesn't draw much attendance for basketball so much that i'm not sure of the last time basketball had a larger crowd than baseball. However, it was announced earlier today that the full band of around 300 members will be playing at our home game Friday night vs Louisiana. We usually only have a 30 or so member pep band so this will create a little more excitement but doubt the attendance exceeds 3K (capacity is around 8k). The one other possible plus is the high school football playoffs have started so that frees up quite a few teams/fans that "might" decide to come since their HS season is done. Should be loud but may not be because of crowd noise but moreso of the "articifial" noise. Safe travels for those coming for the Cajuns.

I think the full band will be in attendance, but I don't think they will be playing music, but I hope I am wrong on that front.

App's crowd looks sad but the facility looks very nice on TV. Probably one of the nicer arenas in the Sun Belt based on TV angles.

EDIT: Looks like a few thousand people are there.

Not good, not bad. A little less than expected but it was a good crowd. With the COVID stuff still going on and masks being required to be worn during the games I think most schools will see attendance down a little this year.

App won 22 games in 2010. Been pain until Kerns.
