I hope we dont rush it too much... 50/50 split seems reasonable, but too much FBS in year one xould get deflating or bad for recruiting (despite what the most boisterous Madisonfan may say)...transition year is OK for football, hope everything else moves over ASAP

The transition period exists for a reason. To provide administrations time to achieve all the things they have to achieve and make the changes they have to make. Fans want to rush it but it’s not as easy as just sewing new patches on jerseys and making alternate travel plans.

Maybe they still have to do 2 season transition but both can be a member of the SBC so they play a SBC schedule 2 years in a row?

They should have extra scholarship players already due to having an increase thanks to the free covid year.

JMU is considered FBS next year for scheduling purposes. I guess it’s more a matter if you get conference scheduling to work. To me you need either 1 or all of the teams from CUSA to join next year as well to balance numbers in divisions.

We are booked for 2022 and 2023. We would be booked in 2024 but Southern Miss will get moved to be a conference game opening 1 slot for non-conference but JMU will already be here by then so it doesn't help them at all.

I wasn’t talking about OOC scheduling for next year. Every SBC team is booked for OOC in 2022, unless Marshall joins early and their game vs App goes to a conference game. What I was talking about was JMU could technically play a schedule of 8 SBC teams next year as a conference member if another (or 3) team also joins to balance divisions for conference scheduling.
