Don't think anyone in Conference USA is talented enough to overcome that kind of turnover margin in a league game and still win.

Considering we only lost by 27 with that many turnovers is impressive.

Vattiato is not a bad QB. He had no experience and the WR's tipped the balls up a lot. I was there at the game and was close to the field. It looked like volleyball. WKU is the best team in the east and will rematch well with UTSA if given the chance. They were hungry and opportunistic. For a freshman to be thrown in there with our terrible OL to block for him is pretty tough. He has a lot of upside. He's gotta learn one way or another.

That WKU / Marshall game is gonna be a barn burner.

True, a decent amount of those were tipped by our players. Honestly, watching on TV, the players shouldn’t have even touched most of them as they were really high or just placed horribly. He did show some flashes but he is way too young. We’re going to need to bring in another transfer to be the backup for next season. I think if Chase was available we would have had a shot to win but maybe next year.

Really disappointed in the WKU crowd. I didn’t expect a big MTSU crowd considering their woes, but WKU fans were disappointing. The weather was amazing for a November game.

Do casual fans not see MTSU as a rival?

Our fans are fair weather in every sense of the expression. We started 1-4 with the lone win being against an FCS team on a Thursday night to start the year. The loss to IU at home in front of 25k hurt the most. You won't see big numbers the rest of the year regardless of weather after that disappointing start, once November hits and temperatures start cooling off then you lose those fans as well. What is left is the people who show up regardless.

I think official was 15,000. I'd say there were more than 10,000 from my vantage point but 15k might be a stretch. I was on old side, upper deck so I couldnt see the lower deck. There were a few thousand in the upper deck but the corners were not filled in at all. The new side was the usual spattering of fans. Hard to tell. Students weren't there in big numbers like they were earlier in the season.

Official was 15,022. I thought the crowd looked decent on tv. I was disappointed in the MTSU following but I can’t talk since I couldn’t make it.

Just hope Nick Vatiatto isn't shell-shocked after all those picks. With Cunningham out for the rest of the year; the kid has an opportunity to show us what he's really got. And, God knows we need both #18 and #12 to QB the rest of this weird season. After all, at Middle Tennessee our annual goal and Coach Stock's entire coaching career (now 97-96 overall) is always to conclude with a 6-6 record. 03-lmfao

You are correct the students have tuned out and my guess is by over half of the 6500 that usually show up. If one thing people should understand, by now, Western's attendance numbers are usually correct or with in 5%. Its been proven over and over that Western uses the scanner (paying fans) and turnstiles for students.

A lot of that 15 arrived late and left early, especially students

As to the game, Helton is going to cost this team a shot at the championship because he wants to slow the pace of the offense down. Its showed over the last 3 games that the offense and especially Zappe is just not as sharp running clock at the LOS. The reason no one could stop this offense in the first 5 games was pace and teams not being able to adjust at the line. Now Western is getting to the line and subbing or using 20+ seconds. After a first down they try to use pace and that seems to be when they make the 5 yard penalties because they are out of sync.

Dont know why he is trying to change a offense that was fun and exciting and no one could stop. I can understand doing that late 3rd or 4th when you are up big but it seems like he's calling it earlier in games.

Its almost like Stansbury gave Helton his stop/slow down sign. Both should talk to Travis Hudson on how to take the heart away from the team you are playing.

Offense looked great first 5 games and the hurry up tempo made the D gassed and constantly on the field. Now we are still scoring points and the defense is getting a breather. I like the fast style of play as well, but cant argue the defense has been much improved since the offensive mindset switch.

Schedule has a lot to do with how the defense is looking. Played 4 really good offensive schools then 4 poor offensive teams. I'm not going to take everything away that the defense has done over the past 4 weeks and say its 100% schedule. Confidence is a huge part of any sport and once players learn how to do things correctly...

it becomes a lot easier and they have more confidence in moving that step closer to the WR. Most of the time the difference in getting off the field or giving a team a first down is a split second decision. Confidence is letting them make that decision quicker.

The 2015/2016 was the same way once they saw they could cover that carried over to games vs the good offensive teams. Early in the season they were not making the same plays.

Those teams took the heart away before slowing it down on offense. I think Helton is slowing the pace down a little to quickly. If western is going to win or have a chance at #3 Helton is going to have to find a better balance of pace.
