I would bet we still end up playing Akron twice every year. Higher interest in rivalries, plus lower cost of traveling 15 minutes, makes it a no brainer to continue that.

More a like North/Suth divisions.

I hope you’re right but remember when they had divisions they didn’t worry about losing the BGSU-Toledo rivalry. A simple switch of EMU and BGSU could have kept it alive.

MAC announced there will be no expansion. I suppose Western Kentucky backed out too.

Did they back out or was it a package deal? I thought they were adding in pairs and when MTSU backed out the offer for WKU went away as well.

No big loss. Fine schools, but don't really fit the geographic profile of the MAC and would probably be have ended up being temporary members.

First Middle Tennessee announced it was staying in Conference USA, then a later the MAC announced it wasn't expanding.

I suspect the MAC didn't want to add just one team, especially without a southern travel partner.

I'm not particularly crushed it didn't happen.
