Can't imagine ODU moving unless they knew Marshall was going too.
Only question seems to be whether JMU has any hangups with the state.

WKU seems to be the fallback if JMU has to pull out. But I doubt they will.

I agree. Would be a huge missed opportunity for JMU if state hang ups causes them to miss out b

And C-USA isn't? CUSA last time they got multi bids was 2012.

SBC has a TV deal that gives them more exposure. They are also positioned to get a even better TV deal and the SBC is stable with a nice footprint.

Yeah, been mentioned many times. DFW Hoya is saying the SBC is somehow worse for their basketball team.

Too many people around here still think it's 2005.

Its all the same with 1 bid leagues but the FBS part matters with those tasty TV deals.

Still get the same amount of NCAA teams. Old Dominion was a 14 seed in 2019, same as SBC school Georgia State.

We’re not talking about that though.

and you take ODU/Marshall out of CUSA and they're at 3477.
SBC becomes 2788

attendance sure- but that has nothing to do with it being a 1 bid league at all.

Also the attendance for ODU if anything will go up. ODU in 2019-20 played a home schedule conference of-
Middle Tennessee
UAB
Charlotte
FIU
Florida Atlantic
UTSA
UTEP
Florida Atlantic
UTSA

now they'll have a home schedule with
JMU
Marshall
App St
Georgia St
Georgia Southern

The JMU game will probably come close to selling out.

Whats this exposure everyone talks about? People dont watch TV anymore anyways and more and more of us dont even have cable anymore.

CUSA will lose over half their schools, not sure how the remaining 5-6 schools compare to the Sun Belt as it will be at 14.

They are on ESPNU instead of CBSSN. So its fictional. Sun Belt does get their T/W games. Except for that, I don't think there is much difference now.

Not clear CUSA will have enough left now, however.

CUSA non-network games are mostly on ESPN+, just like Sun Belt games.

Well they do have solid basketball at least, plus now the Sun Belt will have enough to restart mens soccer (supposedly a big sticking point with Marshall), so its still a value add beyond "markets" and "growth potential".

RE: ODU sounds official to Sun Belt
The lede of the ESPN article had me confused at first:

"Old Dominion will join the Sun Belt Conference no later than July 1, 2023, the conference announced Wednesday, which will increase its membership to 14 schools."

I didn't see any reference to JMU or Marshall and it took me a minute to realize they were including UT-Arlington and Little Rock in the 14 total.
