Pretty sure that all of them participated at Madness ...

RE: Basketball Questions?
Is eligibility even an issue for exhibitions, since they're not "real" games? Genuinely curious about this.

Not sure.
We got dinged for James playing in 3 regular season games.
I'm not sure, but didn't James sit the exhibition games with "an ankle injury"?
That might have been eligibility related before he got the court order and we played him.
If I remember correctly, that's a sign that exhibition games do really matter for NCAA eligibility.

There it goes.. stop with the rumors, guys.

Didn't one of them pull a gun on a player, maybe Joe Jackson, at a pick-up game?

Supposedly.
It wasn't Dedric, but I don't remember which of the other 3 it was.

He does not have the talent level that many other on the team have but he is not close to mediocre. I DO understand the odd Alo bashing, but it is way off

He is a good player and will play a major role this year

A-lo was a state MVP and Mr. Basketball in HS as he was winning 3 (I think) state championships.
If A-lo had played down the stretch last year, we most certainly win 1 of the Houston games and likely make the NCAA tourney.
He would likely school anyone on this message board in 1-on-1, 21, or HORSE.
He is not bad and is above average.
But he is not a flashy player, not a scorer, and doesn't have the high ceiling most of these guys do.
That's why he gets bashed.
Well that, and some other high school-ish thing we do around here with local players.

RE: Basketball Questions?
When you have a group of alpha's you are going to have conflict. It's actually a good thing.

In 2008 Antonio Anderson made a rule, no fighting except on Fridays. Think about that. Antonia Anderson, told Joe Dorsey you can't fight someone except on Friday.

That was a great team. When Black beat Rose's ass after the season, I don't now, but I'm sure AA let it happen.

The question for this team isn't who is gonna score. The question is in the locker room who sets the rules.

That's what we need. A rule maker. And it's not an election.

Johnathan missed an obligation from a source close. There wasnt any fight with anyone..Chandler situation is on Oregon with a class/grade...yall folks talking about guns and Joe Jackson...they would've been 9 and 11 at the time lol..that's the silliest stuff ever...I've never seen a fan base hoping for the worst in guys on they team. I see why Nolley said what he said about false info being spread about him. Yall do it to everyone...rumors are spread by fools and accepted by idiots...

This is the strategy! We need to keep Lane college in the dark! Can’t be too careful - probably sit 5 different players in that one — need to keep UNC central in the dark too — we have all these unknown players in the roster that we need to keep under wraps until the last minute!

Kinda like how we didn’t show all our stuff on defense vs Arkansas State?

With Nolley as your leading scorer from last season- I think it's important to be consistent and keep him as your starting SG with Bates starting at the SF.

Lester would be the 1st player off the bench.

With Lester being the ultimate team player, I don't think he would mind being the 6th man off the bench.

The lineup below gives you a good blend of freshmen talent with experience.

Starters:
PG - Alo (Experience PG)
SG - Nolley (Experience SG)
SF - Bates (Top 5 NBA pick, natural 2/3)
PF - Williams (Experience PF)
C - Duren (Top 5 NBA pick)

Bench:
PG - Timberlake
SG - Lester (1st player off the bench and Heart and Soul of this team)
SF - Minott (Future NBA ?)
PF - C. Lawson
C - Dandridge

That leaves: J. Hardaway, Camden, Sam O, Tyler Harris, J Lawson

Not starting LQ would be foolish IMO.

The best college basketball teams typically have a true point guard running the show — even if he is not a star.

Lester needs to be on the court as much as possible. He does everything (bombs threes, defends, rebounds, hustles, communicates). He and Williams will be the leaders of this team with their savvy and the respect they command from their teammates.

Possible starting lineup:

PG: Lomax

SG: Lester

Point Forward: Bates (who can play point when Lomax is out)

PF: Williams

C: Duren

Sixth man: Landers Nolley, who should be able to get at least 25 minutes per game if he accepts coming off the bench.

I'm not sold yet on Timberlake.

I'm sold on his potential. He had a bad 1st game, it happens. But even while missing he looked awesome going strong to the bucket.

i Can believe that. Both of those guys like to talk and won't be the 1st to walk away.

Well, when we welcomed the Lawson's back we also welcomed their drama...

truEth.

RE: Basketball Questions?
If any of these players fail to buy into the team mentality we need to actually achieve our potential this year then invite them to hit the road. They must be made to understand that no single player is bigger than the sum of all the parts.

Wait, are you trying to imply that some posters on this board just make $#!t up for no apparent reason? And start negative rumors about players on their "favorite" team? That just can't be, can it?

Read back through this thread. What is the purpose of throwing out completely unsubstantiated rumors about current players days before the season starts? I'm afraid some of y'all need to be ruled ineligible for doing horrible, unspeakably evil things that I have no proof of.

True. I should have been clear: I'm not sold (like some on this board perhaps seem to be) on Timberlake being outstanding this season and a first-rounder in the next NBA draft — i.e., a player who is going to come in an "steal" Nolley's minutes. Multiple reports (if I recall correctly) note ET needs work on his shooting. Lots of players can run, slash, etc. But their shooting, passing and moving without the ball skills are so-so. Not saying that is the case with ET. But we've seen LN play and LN is legit.

As noted, I hope I'm wrong and ET enjoys an excellent year. But I foresee him coming off the bench and hope he accepts that role.
