I would be shocked if Napier and Co didn’t bring their best game of the season Tuesday. Other than maybe Texas there wasn’t a game circled more on their schedule preseason.

No complete game we have played so far would be good enough to beat either ccu or App. A couple of quarters maybe but not a complete game. IF we put it together and play a full game, we have a shot. I'm sure the staff and kids think this is a very important game, App has been THAT game for a while now. Losing to yall so often will do that.

Then this should be a good one. A lot of Miami fans blamed the close game down there on the fact that the game was App's "Super Bowl" and Miami didn't really care all that much. I was quick to let them know- and they didn't really believe it - that App's "Super Bowl" was Marshall, Louisiana, and Coastal. Georgia State was close to making that list as well.

How many more running backs does Louisiana have stashed that will be NFL guys? Smith looks like he could be one and your freshman (I think) looks the part as well.

Is the defensive tackle who will undoubtedly get a look in the NFL still there? 6'5 350 lbs is 6'5 350 lbs. Had big games against both App and Coastal last year.

We are loaded at RB. They aren’t as patient as Mitchell or Ragas, but just as talented. Or biggest problem has been 3rd down conversion rates. We only convert 30% of third downs. That is why our games have been close. Our defense gets worn down playing 5 more minutes a game than our offense.

Play calling has been suspect and Lewis has struggled. It will be a huge game, but I think we lose by 17.

RB Emani Bailey is very good. Chris Smith is a game breaker, but doesn't shed tackles and isn't shifty like Bailey. Montrell Johnson is a power back with moves, but not as speedy as Smith. He's a true FRESHMAN, he will be a load next season and behind beyond.

Big Sauce, Tayland Humphrey, is back. Was hoping to see him play a little leaner, but he's still at 355 or so. At 6'5", he plays a bit too high at times. He can clog the middle and has moments of quickness that disrupt things. We play 2 deep on defense throughout the game, so he's on the sideline often.

This season has been a letdown so far. Was expecting to see better play with so many coming back, but offense has disappointed. Levi needs to be an integral part of our run game, otherwise we'd be better off with a taller QB in the pocket.

I don't see a W for us, but do expect to see our best game of the season. We'll see.

We have some good running back that MAY be as good as the NFL guys before they get out of here, but they are very young. I like Bailey and Johnson a lot but they are still learning. Smith is great in open field but (as someone said) is not a going to break many tackles. So far, his "wheels" have been the most effective on special teams.

RE: ***App St @ Cajuns 10/12 7:30ET ESPN2***
Last year App threw the ball 4 times before their final drive of the first half and ran a lot on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down. In the 4th quarter when Peterson finally figured out that the forward pass was legal now, App began moving the ball I'm I'm air and on the ground.

I'd expect App to have 15 to 20 pass attempts in the first half this week and a little more pace on offense which is when App actually moved the ball last year.

I don't have a score prediction but it won't be as weird or inefficient as last year. I'm of the opinion much of the issues App had were self-inflicted due in part to playing true freshman at receiver and Thomas Hennigan playing with a bad hammy.

As an aside, that catch with 5 seconds left by Virgil in the end zone was literally a few inches away from being called inbounds. If App makes that play, the conversation this year is still what it always was. Alas, the catch wasn't made and people think App has fallen off for some reason.

You'll take Louisiana at -1? How much are you going to throw down on that?

We're in the same boat in wanting to see a complete game. It's getting closer but we haven't put 4 quarters together yet.

I said we’d lose by 17. I still think we lose by 17. We are disjointed on offense and terrible at 3rd downs. I don’t think Appalachian St is more talented, just has an identity and better QB.

Blood is in the water - I think App State is feeling good about their chances, and Louisiana may be a bit nervous. I expect a hell of game though.

Have you read the App message boards? They think the same thing about App. If we don’t start the game up 21 and finish up by 50, we suck.

App is around the 30-35% range on third downs this season. Our lowest since joining FBS. Ironically, last year when we had an OC that many didn’t like, we had our best 3rd down efficiency since joining FBS. Go figure.

Then the punters better stretch well and hydrate.

The solution is to not get in third down situations.

I'm thinking App State should get Jake "The Snake" Delhomme up from Charlotte one weekend. He's the Panthers Color Commentator so it wouldn't be incredibly difficult.

Cajuns, how involved is Delhomme with the program now?

Listening to Tim Buckley interview, we must kick the ball into the end zone on kickoffs. That has been a weak point for us this year.

Very much involved he is at almost every event and on the RCAF board

He lives about 15 minutes from campus. I talk to him a lot at the Horse Races since he owns a bunch that race around the area.
