I think mid-football season isn't a good time to start reworking those things though. Everyone is focused on the current season. I'd expect announcements to start trickling out once the season winds down--maybe between the end of the season and the bowl games--and pick up pace in the off-season.

If the Big 12 goes to 8 conference games, which makes sense, the old guard schools will need to pick up some opponents too. Maybe some of BYU’s scheduled opponents would be okay for swapping the Cougars with one of them.

Don't think that will happen.

TV Partners want more conf games...as they will pay a bit more for 9 conf games as they know that "4th" non-conf game is usually a joke.

Heck, ESPN has been trying to force the SEC to go to 9 conf games when OU and Texas join...as it will give them more meaningful games to air.

I expect you will start hearing things in Dec. I don't expect 8 conf games.
