He says a lot of stuff. Does he still stand by what he says about Oklahoma State and Texas Tech to the Pac? Or that ODU is going to lead a breakaway with the CUSA East?

And I think a lot of the stuff we hear about going in behind closed doors probably does get discussed, but it doesn't mean there's a chance in hell of it happening.

I think your second segment explains the first segment. Yeah all kinds of back door stuff gets said and discussed - doesn’t mean it all happens.

For what it’s worth, he never said it wa happening, he just said that App is making their case, which they very well could be.

Colin Cowherd has made a career out of saying every ridiculous thing, when one actually hits he claims his greatness of claiming it. He’s been claiming Alabama dynasty is over for the last 5+ years, eventually he will be right and he’ll let everyone know.

EVEN if it did happen the SBC would survive. A mix of worthy CUSA teams and a FCS call up or two and we are in business again.

Statefanatic could be right and everything unfolds this way. There’s so much uncertainty right now anything can happen.

I hope what I m hearing about conference solidarity is correct. My preference is to keep this group together and grow by 2 or 4. But I m with the Troy fan— if teams leave we reload and more forward

I usually take things more serious when it comes from the poster of a school who doesn't benefit from the rumor....such is the case here. Just saying.

Of then the Big 12 takes Memphis and SMU…

ODU would go before UNCC. They're closely tied to Marshall and ODU sits right in line geographicly with Temple, Navy, and ECU.

I truly believe Marshall and ODU are tied together for the most part. So I agree with you.

As someone said earlier. Maybe App has found out the teams most likely joining the AAC and now they are pitching their case and trying to persuade the AAC to expand to 14 or 16?

I have no idea about Ok St and TX Tech stuff...but I think it's pretty clear that ODU has tried to lead a CUSA East breakaway.

RE: Hearing App is trying to bolt
After last weeks crowd for a Thursday night game I can completely understand App wanting to be in a conference with an in-state rival. Especially ECU. And in this scenario App would most likely gain Marshall as a conference mate. I can definitely see the appeal. I know App doesn't want to lose Georgia Southern and I really doubt they'd want to lose Coastal or Louisiana either but would ECU and Marshall outweigh those loses? I don't know, beats me. Maybe, if this pans out to be more than just a rumor, Georgia Southern, Coastal, and Louisiana are also in talks with the AAC. But I think an in-state conference rival would be a big gain for App.

I can buy the AAC going to 16, because the Big 12 will eventually come back and grab Memphis and whoever else. That way even if they lost teams they could just stay put.

RE: Hearing App is trying to bolt
AAC certainly discussed the possibility of killing off everyone, but they don't believe the ESPN Money will make the money fit for a 16 team league. The plan is 10-12. The AAC has already been told they have no chance in hell of getting the money they are getting now. There was hope of maximizing the TV revenue, but the best way to do that appears to be have fewer mouths to feed.

App has contacted the AAC, as has UL, Georgia State, Coastal, AState, and the entirety of CUSA.

That doesn't mean anyone is leaving.

I realize this is a very fluid situation, but everything I've been told - not read, or heard from somebody who knows somebody - says App stays in the SB.

Every team in the Sunbelt and CUSA probably with the exception of ULM is putting application and data forward to the AAC. It's likely as well that a number of the Western Texas schools in CUSA are putting forth a presentation to the MWC. If athletic directors weren't doing that they would not be doing their jobs.

I think the issue MAY be that App clearly wants Marshall in the league but the Herd wants ODU in the same league. Will the other SBC teams, particularly the Western schools, vote to bring in both? The best result would be for Ga State to go to the AAC so the SBC can add Marshall, ODU, and USM.

My sources back this up as well. I'm not saying statefanatic is wrong, he's usually pretty close, however I think his info is a little delayed. I can't say for sure what's in the way here, but I'm guessing it's ESPN.

If I was to hazard a guess. I believe ESPN is trying to kill off CUSA, or leave them completely irrelevant. Remember, they are the only G5 league without an ESPN contract. It benefits ESPN for CUSA to die.

I hope we would not vote to bring in ODU, they do less then nothing for me. Marshall yes, ODU no.

To be clear, I'm not a big fan of ODU either.
