Heard this morning App wants out. They are in contact with the AAC pleading their case. Was also told the AAC is considering going to 16 and try to kill off the Belt and CUSA. What's left of the Belt and CUSA may end up merging with some teams left out. All this will depend on if App leaves or not. If App leaves others in the Belt will follow. If App stays then they all stay. Leave it to App to mess up a good thing.

I’d like to think App has some pull in what the SBC does but to claim they are the lynch pin to the AAC going to 16 seems unlikely.

Didn't say that. The AAC want to go to 16 to kill other G5 competition. App leaving the Belt would start the rest of the others on the fence to jump also. Look at it this way. App is a top 3 team in the conference and if they left then others would panic and not want to be left behind. The same could be said if ULL left the teams In the west would panic. Just like the AAC losing its top 3. If the AAC lost Temple, ECU and Tulsa the rest would be like we can replace them. Memphis and SMU wouldn't be in panic mode.

It would be great to think that all of the SBC will stand in solidarity but that isn't realistic. I imagine most of the teams in the SBC have at least contacted the AAC.

I don't know if the AAC is a good move, but hard to fault any school for taking a look.

I just hope we don't get screwed.

I can agree with that. If ULL or GS left App would be much more likely to explore the fabled east coast conference.

It's not power! It's App left so we are too. Teams waiting to see how things play out will not want to be left behind. In all seriousness. Who could the Belt get to replace App in the East?, say App and GSU left. Coastal is gonna want to leave also. ULL is gonna want jump to the AAC also. ASU will want to go with ULL.

It would be interesting to see the teams they want to add. What does the geography look like? What will the media deal be? Will it be a repeat of CUSA?

If true, that's a bombshell.

Of then the Big 12 takes Memphis and SMU…

So close to being the best “G5” football conference to getting blown up. I’d prefer not to be in a conference with UTEP and the F_U twins, but if this is true, that is where we are headed. That’s just disappointing and a real .

Any school that’s in a position to plead their case should. I’m sure Georgia State and whomever else are as well.
