Week 2 Games with Historical Significance
First, this Saturday is the 20th anniversary of the 911 terrorist attacks. Most of the lives lost were in the World Trade Center towers in New York City. While there is no P5 team in the City, there is a game between the in-state P5 team hosting the closest geographical out-of-state P5 team...
New York, 20 Years Later.
__________
On a slightly less serious note, there's also the "Johnny Majors Classic", featuring the coach's alma mater hosting the school where he won a national championship...
Johnny Majors, Pitt, and Tennessee
__________
Are there any other historically-significant games this weekend?

Although not P5, but still FBS, WKU (with Ft. Knox & Ft Campbell about an hour away from WKU) will be playing at Army in West Point, NY (just 65 miles north of NYC) on 9/11. It'll be a truly emotional day for all I'm sure.

Hard to believe it's been 20 years.
I said that back in 2011 when it had been 10 years.
Time flies.

Duh, how could I miss... Air Force at Navy?
If ANY military academy should be associated with 911, it would AFA, right?

911 doesn’t have an association with any military entity. It was an attack on civilians by non-state sponsored terrorists (civilians). Remember the firefighters. They were there that day. Not the Army, Air Force, Navy, or Marines.
Why do sports try to make ever event a military appreciation event (like Labor Day last week)?
