the team you all keep calling a cupcake was ranked in the FCS rankings just last week. They fell out after their loss to us.
Y'all seem to forget some of those FCS teams are really good...and have beaten FBS teams.
Last week Montanna upset a nationally ranked Washington Huskies team.
On any given Saturday...you can see an upset occur.

It was a good workout for our new RBs and defenders. You won't see me putting them down.
I admit to dumping on stAte's win over Central Arkansas. I had not realized that Central Arkansas is also a ranked FCS school. So I was wrong for that.

Seriously? It’s a FCS school. 30k attendance on opening day. Not terrible, but play a decent opponent and you get much higher.

They are good for an FCS school... They are a cupcake for any decent D1 school...

FCS schools do play good FB but a school like Memphis as a G5 school needs to be playing mid-level P-5 schools as their OOC schedule. We aren't Alabama or UGA where an FCS on the schedule has no effect. We can't even get a vote in either top 25 poll now. Even if we beat MSU & then UCF in-conference we'll be so far behind we won't have an ability to get into the top 20.

If we beat MSU and UCF (and the rest), to go to 8-0, yes we'll be in the top 20.

But, I agree that we need to beef up the schedule a bit.

Everything I'm hearing is Memphis is next in line. I'm not going to get into it but we were the choice over Houston. Here is a video from 365 sports. Memphis Boise are the next two in and it could happen in the coming weeks.

B12 wanted us over Houston. ESPN wanted Houston because of Market size potential. ESPN still wants us in but not in the first phase. I'll give you the details later.

The fact that we play 1 FCS school (like most other top D1 programs) has nothing to do with expansion or rankings.
We play the game to have an extra home game for revenue and to reward season ticket fans. And to keep the pathway clear to the Access Bowl.
Just as with any other year, if we run the conference table, and win the CCG, we will be in contention for the access bowl slot. Assuming we don't take more than 1 loss OOC.
I'd prefer not to be playing 2 Sun Belt teams, but you take what you can get for H-H. The FCS game is a non-issue, and was the perfect warmup for a frosh qb.
