Jim Mora the new HC at UCONN. The news was kept really tight; the first leak was just under an hour before it was official. Mora was 46-30 at UCLA from 2012-17; 31-33 in the NFL between Atlanta and Seattle. I can't find what he's been doing since getting fired from UCLA.

I thought I remember seeing him on Fox or ESPN working as an NFL analyst, but could be mistaken. This seems like a bizarre hire (complete West Coast guy aside from stints with the Saints and Falcons), but whatever

Edit: yes, he did do work as an analyst at a variety of networks.

"In his time not on the sidelines, Mora has been a staple analyst for a variety of networks including NBC, NFL Network, FOX Sports, and most recently, in July of 2019, with ESPN as a rotating color analyst."

At least if he is at UConn, he won't have to worry about the "Playoffs".

Of course, that was his dad's famous meme (when he was the Saints head coach?). Nope the Colts.

Of course for years both of those teams were in the NFC West Division.

So you could just leave it at complete West Coast Guy!!

Butch Davis resigning at FIU with crazy stories about how badly FIU is underfunding their program.

"Crazy" is putting in mildly. They're trying to run an FBS program that won't even buy shoulder pads. He said when he arrived, the team had 10-year-old pads and the AD wouldn't buy new ones, so an assistant pulled some strings and got Mississippi State to donate their 5-year-old pads to FIU. That's some some small high school budget management, not 85 scholarships D-I FBS management.

It is the kind of thing that Rice would do, and has done in the past. I remember a game during the Fred era when the weather was about as cold and miserable as Houston ever gets. On the sidelines, the Rice team broke out heavy duty overcoats. Blue heavy duty overcoats. In particular, very light blue heavy duty overcoats, with "Houston Oilers" very clearly imprinted on them.

Justin Fuente out at Virginia Tech per ACC network Packer and Durham show. Miami AD Blake James also out; more heat for Manny Diaz.

And another - Grambling fires their coach - Fobbs, a three-time SWAC Coach of the Year, led the Tigers to a 54-32 overall record during his tenure - https://www.espn.com/college-football/st...ht-seasons

Fobbs, a three-time SWAC Coach of the Year, led the Tigers to a 54-32 overall record over 8 seasons.

Bloomgren moves up to #11 in coacheshotseat.com.

I kind of wish he would drop off that list -- in any way possible, mind you.

I just realized that Kaarlgard is referred to on these pages most times as 'JK'.

It also hit me that I use that shorthand for another reason (in texts and such). Maybe there is an ironic connection there somehow.

Good Read

https://www.espn.com/college-football/in...ry-vacancy

Interesting excerpt from North Texas situation
North Texas has won three straight games since a 1-6 start and faces 1-9 Florida International on Saturday. Could Mean Green coach Seth Littrell save his job? It's possible but unlikely. Industry sources expect the potential North Texas opening to attract an impressive group of candidates. North Texas could be a landing spot for Justin Fuente, the former Virginia Tech coach who likely will look closer to home for his next stop. Other possibilities include USC offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, who spent 2016 to 2018 as North Texas' offensive coordinator, Texas Tech interim coach Sonny Cumbie, Stephen F. Austin coach Colby Carthel, and Baylor coordinators Ron Roberts (defense) and Jeff Grimes (offense).

Thanks for the link. I'd expect Fuente to be the top candidate if the Tulsa job comes open (Montgomery is in the last year of his contract and the Golden Hurricane are unlikely to be bowl-eligible) given that he was born and raised in Tulsa

We should have fired Bloomgren a few weeks ago to get a jump start on UNT. Instead, we will f*ck around like we usually do and allow a competitor to assert itself as the better job.

Troy fires its coach after three seasons.

It does seem like schools are having shorter and shorter leashes.
