RE: Comcast
Phillips said Tuesday that Comcast "knows the importance of the ACC Network moving forward to Disney and to ESPN, and we also understand Comcast has some things that they're trying to work through. But it's very amicable, and we are farther along than we were in July, so there has been progress."

RE: Comcast
Unlike situations between YouTube and NBCUniversal and Comcast and MSG Networks whose deals expire 25 days ago, neither Comcast nor Disney have started to warn viewers of a blackout. “Every indication is that the two are on good terms,” the analysts said in a report Thursday morning. “If they don’t announce by midnight tonight, no matter. A short — or even not so short — extension to buy more time would be inconsequential.”

While there are many issues between the two companies, the one that rises to the top for the analysis is the future of Hulu. Comcast still owns 33% of Hulu and Disney is obligated to buy out Comcast by 2024. But with Comcast trying to build up Peacock with NBCU programming currently committed to Hulu there are incentives to unwind that stake sooner rather than later for Comcast. (Some have argued that the dispute between NBCU and YouTube could benefit Hulu, rasing its value for Comcast.)

My understanding is that it expired on September 30, but that the former contract is continuing while negotiations continue. https://www.nexttv.com/news/comcast-disn...re-analyst

On this page, it was originally listed as expiring in September. However, as mentioned, it was extended to October, which is what it currently shows. No idea if this will hold true, or if it will get bumped to November as they continue to negotiate.

RE: Comcast
So Comcast has amicably and with the best of intentions delayed by three months for free more or less.

They didn't delay 3 months over the ACC Network. Something else is at issue here. Perhaps one of you knows what it is?

What’s the issue about Hulu?

I believe Comcast owns a percentage of Hulu that it is contractually obligated to sell to Disney.

So the theory (I don't know if there's any supporting evidence or not) is that Comcast is holding this negotiation hostage in order to keep part of Hulu?

RE: Comcast
Hulu's future could be set by Disney-Comcast carriage talks – analyst
The final fate of Hulu, the Disney-controlled SVoD and pay-TV service, could be determined by a new, all-encompassing carriage deal between Disney and Comcast, resulting in Comcast scoring a multi-billion-dollar windfall. Or, the unwinding of Comcast's stake in Hulu could be pushed off until 2024, and still result in Comcast getting a mountain of money.

RE: Comcast
This person claims that we may have been reading too much into the Xfinity contract renewal page that showed the Disney networks expiring in September, and then October, and now November. He believes the contract actually expires in January, despite what that contract renewal page says.

RE: Comcast
That would make sense as the last deal (10yr) was announced Jan 2012.
So why did Phillips say deal 'near' 6 mo ago?
