The best way to understand Finebaum is to imagine him as Jerry Springer. Without constant irritation and set up cat fights his show would be 21/2 hours of watching paint dry and 1 good interview with 2 commercial breaks to cover the other half hour.

I want to preface this by congratulating 2017 UCF on a fine season. I wish Alabama had played them.

As I understand it the Colley Matrix uses linear algebra to measure SOS. It treats teams with the same record as equals when their respective opponents have an equal number of wins and their opponents' opponents have an equal number of wins and their opponents' opponents' opponents have an equal number of wins and so forth through all iterations.

So a win or loss against, say, an 8-3 MAC team can be as equally helpful or hurtful as a win or loss against an 8-3 SEC team. Not sure about that.. Maybe if all teams were in a conference and all conferences had a equal number of teams and all teams played an equal number of conference games and an equal number of OOC games against an equal number of teams from each of the other conferences?

As for Paul Finebaum, he's always looked like James Taylor to me. I think he's married and so won't ask if he's a roving handy man.

I choose to get my information from a guy that has class, Dave Revsine. Dave is currently out touring all the BIG schools to do a pre-season evaluation for the upcoming season. Unlike Paul, Dave's a$$ isn't glued to his chair and actually still does work out in the field.

If there was actually a picture next to the saying "d*** with ears", it would be of Paul Finebaum.
