1. The ACC / the ESPN offer “eat what you kill” deal to ND

2. ND accepts but asks the ACC to add Navy as well.

3. The ACC agrees.

4. Navy accepts the ACC’s invitation.

5. Then the ACC / the ESPN offer the same deal to PSU

6. PSU accepts but asks for one of its friend to be added as well.

7. The ACC agrees. 17 is a bad number anyway.

8. To somebody’s dismay, UMCP is not interested in rejoining the ACC. “Eat what you kill” will never work for the Terps. Same deal for Rutgers.

9. Then PSU suggests Temple.

10. The ACC has been bending backward but Temple is too much even for the ACC.

11. PSU and the ACC then compromise and agree to invite WVU.

12. WVU accepts instantly. Huge celebration in Morgantown with firework/couch burning

13. With 18 teams, four pods are not possible. Crossover rival games are difficult unless the ACC plays 9 conference games.

14. The ACC goes with North/South divisions:
NORTH: BC, Cuse, Pitt, WVU, Louisville, PSU, ND, Navy, Miami (Miami is in North as Northern teams desperately want the Florida access)
SOUTH: UVA, VT, UNC, Duke, NCSU, WF, Clemson, GT, FSU

15. Playing only eight conference games, no interdivision games are played. But the ACC CG is very intense and draws much interest.

16. The venue for the ACC CG rotates between Charolotte and somewhere in North (Philly?)

17. For basketabll, everyone still plays everyone. The bottom two teams won’t participate the ACC tournaments. Half of times the ACC tourney is held somewhere in North Carolina.

18. The ACC North and South live happily ever after.

No to Navy. Very bad idea.

If the Heel Honchos are planning long term, there will be no frivolous additions. If I’m wrong, then they are planning to abandon ship. However, I think that quite unlikely.

The assumption is that once the pay difference between conferences becomes too large that UNC will have to move to a higher paying conference.

Good to hear that the heels are committed to this ACC hill. I prefer the ACC as it is.

Many CSNBBs'ers probably thought Texas would with the Big 12 as well. How did that work out?

I agree UNC with the ACC and UT with the Big 12 is way different with Carolina being in the ACC for many years longer and having more rivalries in the conference than Texas did in the Big 12. Texas probably only had one "must play" in the Big 12 and the SEC accommodated that. There's at least two and maybe more schools UNC wouldn't want to leave behind. No doubt North Carolina would have more loyalty to the ACC than Texas did to the Big 12. Then again, money will likely trump everything. If I were the Big Ten commissioner, I would certainly target UNC and UVa and I would take Duke to get them. The three schools definitely would fit right in with the Big 10 academically and if Jon Scheyer and Hubert Davis keep Duke and Carolina at a high level the Big 10 will rule men's basketball.

That being said, part of me also loves the ACC staying together although I would love Pittsburgh and Notre Dame in the Big 10 and Florida and Florida State in the same conference whether that conference is the ACC or the SEC.
