Only an idiot would think something like this would work. If the two conferences decided to play under a umbrella their not going to switch up teams so you have one all mighty division or conference. It will be most likely a scheduling alliance where they will use each other for the OOC games instead of scheduling cupcakes left and right. This would make for better ACC/SEC network material to be distributed than scheduling the likes of Eastern this and Southern that. No way anyone is going to go for this stupid split the OP demonstrated I guarantee it.

So, what is the SEC west today? Do Arkansas, Ole Miss, and MSU have a chance in Hell of winning the SEC west today?

It’s called balance and what is suggested has none. The SEC west has always been like that, and with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma going to the west which is obvious decision. Then moving the Alabama and Auburn to the SEC East which is the next obvious section and moving Mizzu to the West. This balance out the SEC with 16 schools. You can not fix it in a way to make everyone happy, and that is why they write a big effing check to compensate these schools at the bottom as well as the schools who are at the top.

The only other option is put these schools in pods of 5 constantly rotating year after year each pod would play two others with two permanent games. Pods will be the only way to make a Super Conference of 30 schools work, and 16 team conferences it just makes better sense to play with no divisions. Classes need to be able to play everyone before graduating than how it currently is now. Just example Louisville has been in the ACC now 7 years and last season was the first year we played Virginia Tech. This is ridiculous and these conferences need to schedule way better than they currently do. And with the conference configuration at the top wouldn’t allow this.

You don't seem to understand the concept that X laid out.

RE: MERGER ACC/SEC combined
Why would all those SEC teams agree to move to the ACC for substantially less money?

You hit the nail on the head. Maybe a few cross over schools but to place the best into the same only creates more once mighty losers
