NewsChannel 3....You’ve got to be kidding me!
Ok...I tune in to Channel 3 at noon to catch up on the $550 million gift to WMU and they open the newscast with a story on the status of Michigan’s Secretary of State Office appointments? For God’s sake, your local University...an economic driver in the local community...receives the largest gift in history for any U.S. public university and you open the newscast with Secretary of State news. Come on...you can do so much better!!! Is WWMT becoming the next MLive?

Maybe they wanted footage from the press conference first? IDK, but they could've opened the noon hour w/ a 15 second teaser they were expecting an announcement from Western.

Local media was pissed at WMU because national outlets got the information first.

Just maybe if local media was more interested in WMU & not just an afterthought the Washington Post would not get the lead story.

Chicken/Egg situation when it comes to WMU and the local media.

Looks pretty bad for the local media that the national media had it out front and center, giving it the reporting that it deserved while the locals apparently did not.

Yep. Proudfoot would have helped himself a lot had he sent information to local media (especially News 3!).

They won't forget this. Look for the terrible local coverage of WMU to continue.
