I wasn't thrilled when I saw we were opening against Coastal
Coastal Carolina is already up 5-0 in the third inning. Unless we have an amazing comeback up our sleeve the season is over, although we would have a meaningless game to play on Wednesday. Still have plenty of innings left, but I didn't see this as a good matchup to begin with.

9-0 in the 4th inning. Am I being too much of a pessimist saying I think the season is over?

11-0 in the fifth. Only question now is will the "10 run rule" be invoked.

I guess not since it is 15-0 in the seventh. What a total collapse!

It most likely will be meaningless to us, but we won’t play again until Thursday against South Alabama. #1 East USA has the best record in the conference, so since we are getting crushed by the #6 East team, not much to pin hopes on.

Tomorrow’s CC vs USA winner will win the pool. Our game was mercy-ruled after 7 innings with the score 15-1. Our season did seem promising at one point.

But we swept USA at home. Go figure.

We were playing like a different team back then! The wheels came off for some reason.

Really disappointing, but pretty much par for the course for our decades of following LR baseball. I always come back to wondering "Can we ever have a successful baseball program at UA-LR". I think Curry is a fine coach. Maybe there is a "Chris Beard" of baseball out there, but I really don't think we could do much better. Sure, Gary Hogan Field doesn't compare to the actual baseball stadiums they have at ULL and CC. But, we have made it into a beautiful facility, a great place to watch a game which seats more than we ever need. I guess, for the most part, we are competitive (let's forget yesterday) in a very solid baseball conference. Maybe that's as good as it's going to get. Year in and year out, it's hard to imagine we are ever going to have the programs that exist at ULL, CC, and USA. I just would like to be able to make the NCAA's once in awhile.

What I really don’t get about this baseball season is how we could look and play so strong in the first half of the conference season, and then look so bad for most of the second half, and then end with a total thud. Remember, we swept South Alabama and won our series against the Ragin Cajuns. Those two teams ended up winning their respective divisions! Arnold and Barkley were flat out owning the competition!
And then we start losing to lessor teams, sometimes in heartbreakers, but getting smoked in others. And then there was yesterday! Not only do we lose in embarrassing fashion, but both Arnold and Barkley get flat out abused by the Coastal hitters! So again, what the hell happened?
It is somewhat reminiscent of the basketball season when the Trojans were looking pretty good through early January and then took a total nose dive for the rest of the season! We still don’t know what happened there!

And USA took Coastal to the woodshed today 14-7. I thought Coastal was on a roll. I guess we were just bad.

RE: I wasn't thrilled when I saw we were opening against Coastal
The downfall began with that 3-game sweep defeat at A-State over the Easter weekend. From then on, it was a slow crash and burn. Mind you, we've always had quality pitching over the years. It's just that we couldn't sustain that with timely hitting or lack thereof. Hopefully, things will turn up next Spring. They usually do. #LittleRocksTeam
