Boise, Cincinnati, UCF, Memphis and Houston have lost multiple ADs and coaches over the past 15 years or so and found a way to bounce back, either immediately or within a couple years. If Tulane is as great of a gig as you believe (and I am not saying you aren't), then you too will be able to replace those two rather quickly and keep on rising.
Yeah i don't believe we are the most difficult job in the AAC. We have had an AWFUL president and AD for many years who tried to kill athletics. They have been replaced and the new president and board are now committed to athletics - its really that simple. We now accept NCAA minimums for student admissions and trasnfers. We still do look at their character and talent, but we don't need the kids to be Rhodes Scholars anymore. We are in fertile recruiting grounds, with only one P5 in the state. We don't need to compete with LSU for recruits we just need the best of the rest ( beat USM, LA Tech and ULL on the trails). We have a large endowment, in a highly desirable city to live in with good relations to the local pro team and a desirable degree. The owner of the Tampa Bay Bucs & Manchester United is a large donor.
Tulsa is in a tough spot with funding and a very small student population and less desirable area- but they have some advantages too. ECU has a very loyal and good sized fan base (much more so than us) but has its own problems as well.
Also for what its worth we went undefeated in 1998, have been invited to multiple rose bowls, hosted two superbowls and have more SEC Championships than half of the SEC.
the fact that the Glazers are cool with giving money to a conference rival is a major reason USF needs its own stadium. Not as much a concern when USF was in the Big East, but the sooner they stop getting extra cash from us to harm us by giving to Tulane, the better. Nothing against Tulane-just shows how pro team owners will exploit college teams at every opportunity just like Jeff Lurie does with Temple.

Have they ever been good at football?
They should just give their football program to Wichita State.
Pointless banter. In my perception, they’ve been a better football program than ECU since American inception.
Yes, ECU has a ton of potential and can’t wait till you all are back!
Wassss just kidding around. Take it easy. And ECU has been better than them since American inception which is probably the worse stretch for ECU in the past 30-40 years

I’m an idiot. Totally misread what you were saying. Disregard my post I thought you were saying Tulane is like Uconn which didn’t even make sense to me and now I know why

Kansas was very good in the late 2000s. USF played an epic game vs them at Ray Jay in 2008 with 60k in the stands.
2007 was their greatest team ever-- they went 12-1. The 2008 team dropped down to 8-5 and they haven't had a winning record since. In fact, post WWII Kansas has only had 16 winning seasons, many of them of the 6-4/7-5 variety. That tells me they aren't going to ever put a winning product on the field consistently save for a year or two when a great coach comes to town and brings in the right JUCOs or transfers.
As for Tulane, as long as the administration and athletic department on the same page they should get better. They have some advantages that Kansas doesn't have to attract the right kind of talent.

This seems like a particularly level headed and logical thread, With people exchanging ideas and listening to each other. . . I didn’t know these existed on the internet

A lot of their family went to Tulane, but I do agree pro sports team owners don’t really care. Occasionally they will be die hards for a brand but not often.

The Speculation is that this is a UTennesse/UCF situation where they take our AD and Our Fb Coach who has strong (family and recruiting) ties to Kansas, Missouri and the Midwest.
Obviously this is poor timing to lose a HC and AD. Our AD has done a solid job (but poor at fundraising) but we would definitely prefer to keep our HC. He’s making $1.9m from us currently, obviously Kansas could beat that
I understand the AD wanting to go because of what KU basketball is, but why in the world would Fritz sign up to be the next sacrificial lamb at that football program. Nobody needs that in their life, right? I mean isn't he already in his 60s?

That's a good hire for KU. We'll see how it works out for them.

Its actually the second hire out of Buffalo for Kansas. Kansas hired Turner Gill out of Buffalo when they fired Mark Mangino. Gill was then replaced by Charlie Weiss after his flop at Notre Dame.
