Ahhh MM. The wisest triple threat HC/OC/QB coach in JMU history.
Also, probably the only HC/OC/QB coach in history.

Agree in principle, but there are a few things we still don't know that could affect this...How long was he 'down for the count'? We know he was out before we were scheduled to play the two games but was it a mild case or did he get sick for longer/more severe where it would impact his ability to get back up to playing shape? How much longer is he quarantined? If he can't practice until Thursday I'm not sure I'd be comfortable putting him out there in game action right away. If he's ready to go today, he should be ok.
That goes for all the guys where were out. If they can't get at least one or two practices in to see how they're doing physically, I'm not sure how much you want them to get their first reps in more than 2 weeks in a rivalry game.
As someone who's had Covid, I don't see how anyone can be completely up to speed in three weeks. I'm not young and know youth and in great condition makes a huge difference, but this crap lingers.
Not if they were asymtomatic, which the majority are..
Also I don’t believe symptoms linger as in weeks for ‘most’ young people.

Well it affects everyone differently, could be just asymptomatic or could be knocked down hard. Without knowing that (not just for Gage but everyone who got sick) I don't know what we're going to expect in terms of their availability this week. We might not see some of them until Elon. Hard to say.

I am not a big fan of that approach.....Cojo and Gage have different skillsets to a degree, rigth-handed vs left-handed....I am sure game plan would be different depending on who is the starter. I don't think that approach is fair to everyone else playing, it creates confusion and I think a wasted series. Is it the 3rd possession no matter what (even after 2 td drives)......it is dependent on field position....only if the offense seemed stagnant. And then if the 3rd drive looks awesome and yields a TD do you swap back or stick with it.
I think that approach divides a lockerroom, with everyone having to pick a side.
I agree. I also recall the last time we played two QB's on the regular things did NOT go well.
IMO, Johnson earned his spot back. He should be our QB until he becomes a liability (aka turning the ball over and over). We don't need a star QB. We just need a QB that will make smart decisions. That is what Cole did this week. I don't think it's fair to say this was an outlier for him as Cignetti has said he liked the decisions Johnson was making in practice. Perhaps it took him a while to figure it out.
I don't think it's safe to say he's our starter for good, but he has definitely earned at least the chance to remain starter.
Exactly this above ^^^. You just saved me a bunch of keystrokes.

1. I don't understand the anti-COJO sentiment on these boards...he's won every game that he's played a significant role in if I'm not mistaken. See Villanova and Elon in 2016 and 4 games this season (JMU won all 6 games). I don't think you can pin the entire first half of Elon on him with the 4 first downs. This season, he's completing 68 or 69% of his pass attempts with close to 9 yards per attempt. Maloney, by comparison, does not seem to be the same level passer and has a lower ceiling. Credit Maloney for raising the energy level of the team in second half versus Elon. In any event, Johnson, save one errant pass, was terrific yesterday. I'd be surprised if Johnson isn't the starter next week.

While I don't know the answer to the alcohol question, it was not sold during basketball games this year. Concessions were limited. I'd bet on there not being booze available as a way to promote folks to keep their faces covered during the event.

And also to avoid long lines with people congregating I would think.

I read in a earlier post that alcohol would NOT be served in the spring season and only the bottom concession area would be open. Tailgating is off as of now also. Now that Ralphy has eased up restrictions maybe they will ease up to at BFS. But remember the more options that are open the more people it takes to man them cutting back on total in the stadium.
