I'm hoping despite the issues we've had the last two weeks in getting in CAA home games and VCU had in Indy this weekend that we can travel to Williamsburg for a game against the Griffins next Saturday.

You wonder if Elon has thrown in the towel.

I'm hoping the posting of this thread brings the team good luck.

Guess we'll know tomorrow if there's a weekly sports luncheon at O'Neill's if we'll be playing this coming weekend.
Week 6: JMU vs COVID.

I just want to watch some football!

Took a look around 1145 today; couldn't find where there was a presser today. Am I correct to conclude there was no football update today?
So, uh, this happening?

Sure hope so, not sure we can miss much more and have any playoff hopes. Cig seems optimistic, and the team had some form of practice today. Agree with his comment that every game is now essentially a playoff elimination type game for us.

We need two more CAA games to qualify for the autobid. In theory, win two CAA games and everyone else loses at least one would punch our ticket.

we only need one more game to be eligible for the playoffs if the autobid doesnt work out

While true, and while it seems unthinkable that a "#1" or even top 5 ranked team would not be granted an at large, this season it also feels like anything is possible with the chaos. Its a bit hard to know if a 4-0 JMU team gets an at large depending on what happens in the MVC, CAA north and elsewhere. Our resume may not be strong enough if our only CAA victories were over Elon and W&M, especially if we squeek out wins and RU finishes strong or teams in the North post 5-1 beating 5 different CAA teams.

I still believe at least one "deserving" team won't make the cut with only 6 at larges total. If we don't get more games and wins, it could be us.

Well the North is down to 3 teams that couod do that. UD and UNH could only go 4-1. 2 of those 3 are URI amd Maine, and I just don’t see wither if them going 5-1.
Starting April 1, 30% capacity. That April 10 game could have up to 7500 people.

Thanks Deez for the update. Hoping for good weather and my much better half and I will plan to be in BFS. By then we'll both be fully vaccinated too...gives me more reason to celebrate. Woohoo!
Edit to my earlier <now quoted> post, I doubt the capacity would actually be 7500 because of some sections being unavailable. The 100 level is restricted because of proximity to the field/players... much like the bottom rows of basketball arenas near the floor are unavailable at indoor venues. But it should be more than 1000 for the April 10 game VS Elon and a potential April 17 makeup game.
I wonder what thresholds would have to be met by say April 15th to perhaps (hopefully?) see another ease of restrictions???...

...or, is this a once a month thing where we have to wait until May 1st for another policy change? I guess we will see...

edit note: VDH site shows 2.1M Virginians with at least one vaccination dose and 1.14M fully vaccinated. Average doses administered each day just under 50K. Probably another 0.5M or more who have already had COVID and beat it with some immunity built in. Just under 10 days left in March suggests another 0.5M doses will be administered (though not all "fully" vaccinated. This suggests by April 15, at least 4M could be fully vaccinated or at least 1 dose by then. That would be nearly half of the population of VA and probably (just a SWAG assumption by me) a very high percentage of those given to older, more high risk (e.g., underlying medical conditions) - in other words, not children who are less vulnerable in that state population number. And yes, I know some folks will just refuse their vaccination chance and that's their right. But, they've mostly had the chance by then. By May 1st?...are we getting closer to 60-70% of Virginians (including then starting to get to healthy younger folks who desire to get the vaccine)???

Think Ralphy said 5000 or 30% which ever is less. So lower number in BFS.
Excuse me I was wrong Ralphy said 30% no numerical limits. When I’m wrong I’ll own it.

5000 or 30% for graduations. I'm not sure how that makes 30% no limit at venues a difference but hey I don't make these guidelines. I guess they picture a limit of 5000 people on the quad (outdoor spaces) versus a facility/venue with over 15K seats.

Just re-read the Gov’s mandate say fans at recreational in-door and outdoor venues are capped at 30% no numerical restrictions, does that mean outdoor sporting events like football stadiums?who knows I’m guessing Bourne and Co let us know by April 1.
JMU -17.5 O/U 45

Seems a lot of points for this team to lay who hasnt been able to practice that much the last two weeks.
Which Dukes team will we get? Angry hungry Dukes, or sloppy lazy Dukes? I hope the fellas are hungry on Saturday.

Better question might be what players can play? Sounds like we will be without quite a few. That will be interesting.

Perhaps not so good right now, but should pay strong dividends for quality depth come Fall Season. At this point, I'll take a squeaker victory over the Tribe (former Indians) while we are still recuperating.
