They all died at the Alamo, not something I'd want to rally around tbh

They gone Coog it.
Whether it's this weekend, or next, or the following.
They got a loss coming.
Another question...Will Sampson weasel out of the AAC tourney too?

If I'm not mistaken, the conferences have the choice to give their regular season champ or conference tournament champ the auto bid, but I'm too lazy to look it up. IF this is the case, the conference could make Wichita the champ, ensuring 2 bids.

If we were ranked top 10 and had a legit opportunity to drop a road game against a tough opponent I cannot say I would roast Penny over it.

Penny quote from the CA
“I think that’s terrible,” the Tigers coach told radio play-by-play voice Dave Woloshin during a pregame interview. “You’re supposed to make up games. I don’t see why we couldn’t go to (Houston) on Thursday and then have them give us our home game on Sunday. We tried to get it that way and Houston cried enough to get our home game. There is plenty of time to get a make-up game.”

If Cal had purposely “avoided” a tough conference road game during his run, the committee would have docked his team for it come seeding time... no doubt.

Fans are supposed to support their team and max out the season.
It's everyone else in the country who would roast Penny over it.

Conferences can. That could be problematic for us though.
I'm thinking we've pretty much got 2 slots allocated to the AAC as a given this year. (Yeah, we had the normal suspects saying yet again that it was going to be a 1-bid league, but I've never bought that.)
However, getting 3 slots might be tougher. Not impossible, but things would have to break right on the bubble.
So if the AAC gave it to Wichita and Houston has theirs locked, then our hill gets tougher to climb.

Is this a scenario where the AAC could guarantee itself 3 NCAA tournament bids?
Assuming Wichita wins their final 2 regular season games, the AAC awards their regular season championship to Wichita, but keeps the automatic bid with the tournament winner.
Houston skips the AAC tournament, believing their at-large spot is secure (it is...).
Wichita skips the AAC tournament, because they believe that a win vs. #9 Houston, along with being the AAC regular season championship is good enough to garner an at-large bid. They would be 15-4 with no "bad" losses (their worst loss was @ Memphis, by 20). This is a risk, but their resume may get them in, especially if they win their last 2 regular season games convincingly.
That puts Memphis, SMU & the rest of the conference battling it out for the AAC's automatic spot in the tournament.

I hope this doesn't happen. If the best teams in your conference skip the tourney...The conference should be punished somehow.

If that happens, I'm almost certain Wichita would be out. Contrary to what some people believe - that Wichita is "in the tournament".

I don't "blame" Sampson. He is taking the easiest path. Doesn't mean I won't roast him as an opposing fan, or remind everyone of this whenever our own fans take shots at Penny.
I place all the blame on the AAC. They are letting Sampson get away with it. Houston is already in, nothing to gain there. The AAC is just selling one school out to lessen the risk of a seeding hit with another.
