The Flashes traditionally struggle at Ball State on Wednesday afternoons.

It’s interesting that besides not letting fans in they play many of the games when few people can watch. I assume if you are working from home you can sneak a peek every once in a while but it still shows where the fans are on the pecking order. We are below the health department, the coaches, the players and ESPN.

Well we are only down 26 at halftime. Seems like every time the team seems to be looking good this happens. I don’t understand.

Given the way they played, a smaller audience was a blessing

From time to time when the opponent shoots the lights out you're going to look bad. i don't think any less of this team (or any more) than I did before. I've seen probably about a dozen of these in my many years following Kent State. The one that sticks out in my mind the most is the 1990 MAC tournament game against CMU. KSU finished second, by 1 game, to a great Ball State team. In the first MAC tournament game they played a CMU team that had a losing records and wasn't very good. But, CMU shot the lights out and won 82-68. CMU stayed hot and upset Miami before Ball St. whipped them pretty good for the championship. It sucks when the opponent shoots like Ball St. did today. But it happens.

Shooting lights out is easier when you're wide open for a whole half. It's like we forgot the corner was a place people were allowed to shoot from during the first half.

I know what you are saying, anti-zip. I'm sure it wasn't their best defensive outing of the year. But, in any game, even one well-played defensively, there are plenty of occasions in which a team has their fare share of wide-open shots but miss more often.

Like KSU versus Indiana in 2002 for instance. Teams don’t shoot that well during warm ups.

That's this board's version of "Godwin's Law". There's a team getting hot and knocking down a lot of threes. Then there's that effing game. They were 15-19. BSU was 13-26 last night and probably at least half of those makes were poorly contested.

I agree that the defense was non existent. Hate to say it but our senior leadership was worst than zero. It was negative. The body language says it all.

Indeed ... Everybody was giving Indiana 3s the entire tournament, they only made 2 in the game vs. Duke and 19 to that point (three previous games in the tournament). Kent's defense that game was designed to stop Jeffries (the only pro on Indiana who scored 24 vs. Duke) and held him to 10 points with (I believe) 6 of those coming in the last four minutes. It was just their night. Had they made just 50-percent - instead of 15-for-19 - Kent would have won. That jerk Fife had score 7-3-3 points in three NCAA games before Kent, then goes for 17 hitting 5 threes. Go figure. Pisses me off every time I think about it.
