Nick Zachary, Carlos Rogers. Of course, it seems like a lot of our good ones get run off.
Was Carlos run off? I would definitely put Nick in the "bad attitude" category.
Based on what I was told back then, Carlos didn't make his grades. I guess that is different than being run off. Never heard that he was a problem, other than maybe not having a "zest" for academic work. Of course, he got the last laugh as he likely earned millions in the NBA.

RE: Recruiting
I knew Carlos well as he was my upstairs neighbor at the South Oaks Apartments and we spent a lot of time hanging out. He was not strong academically. His athletic ability was incredible and he was a player that could take over a game and he did that many times at Tennesses State. As I recall he did not start any games the one semester he was eligible. Erskine Caldwell started. I liked him as well but he was not an offensive weapon. He knew he deserved more playing time and obviously had he stayed at UALR those next two years could have been vastly different for those of us that were fans of the program. He certainly wasn't the only player to be run off by some of the so called coaches we have had.

My son was probably 5 or 6 years old back then, and he would frequently ask "Daddy, why isn't Carlos playing?" I guess he was a pretty good judge of talent even then. It was obvious Carlos was simply a stud. I remember thinking back then that Coach Platt didn't play him that much because he knew he wouldn't be here long and didn't want us to get to used to having him on the court.
