NDSU, SDSU, EWU and remember McNeese, who beat Tarleton, all lost.
JMU struggled with Robert Morris.
The McNeese State score, losing at home to Incarnate Word by 28, was a shocker. McNeese is a quasi- FCS power and were favored by 11 points, and got shellacked at home.
FWIW, McNeese State, located in southwest Louisiana, suffered significant damage during Hurricane Laura just six months ago. The football field, which is set in to the ground, was flooded with about 4 feet of water, and several facilities at the stadium, including the goal posts and artificial turf field, were destroyed and had to be replaced. The stadium lighting system is still out, so all their home games this spring will be played during the day. So it's something that they were able to even host the game. Also, LSU coach Ed Orgeron's son is the McNeese starting QB.

I think quasi-power is accurate quo, so long as that definition is “frequent playoff participant”. Fits McNeese well currently & acknowledges their historical success.

SIU ...... 38
NDST ... 14
And the thing was, the score reflected the play on the field. SIU dominated start to finish. One of NDST's scores was a Hail Mary at the end of the half. The other was when it was 38-7 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
I would argue the play on the field does not accurately reflect in the score. It should have been 38-0 SIU for the reasons you gave about NDSU's touchdowns. One was a lucky hail mary to end the half, the other was in garbage time.
NDSU was absolute **** the entire game. SIU played very well, but the Bison were also completely inept. Play calling was poor from our young OC. Our QB transfer from Iowa St looked like a statue caught in the headlights of an oncoming train. The O-line couldn't make any holes. The RBs looked woefully undersized and just bounced off SIU defenders(and not in a good way). The defense was okay for a time, but they eventually collapsed under the weight of good SIU play and far too much time spent on the field.
Most worrisome was the appearance that most of the team felt they should win just because of the name on the front of their uniforms and on the sides of their helmets. There was no heart in the team, just a feeling of unearned entitlement.
The team(players AND coaches) that took the field yesterday might only have have two more wins in them this season for a record of 4-5 and no playoffs. Maybe this will be a wakeup call and they'll get their heads out of their asses and into the game, otherwise this is how dynasties die.

McNeese has ONE conference championship in the last decade (2015). They’ve largely been irrelevant with just a pair of playoff bids (2013, 2015) during that time.
McNeese was a more frequent participant in the 2000s. Their success and historic representation has come up a few times on this board but the question can be asked, what have they done lately? They do stand to benefit from new SLC but even then - SLU and Nicholls have passed them

That’s why quasi is important in quasi-power.

They’ve even lost that “quasi”
Again, they haven’t been the top dog in Louisiana for even the past decade amongst the SLC schools and are resting on laurels from decades gone by
Is Florida State a quasi power too? They’ve been relevant more recently than McNeese State but that program is significantly down in the pits

Sam Houston State was a quasi-power until they got walloped 65-7 on ESPN2 in 2016.

I'm enjoying this FCS football more than I thought I would. Watched one game Friday, three games on Saturday and one yesterday.
The teams are prepared, from what I have seen.

Eh, it's a quibble but I think "quasi" still applies. That reflects the decline over the past decade.
As for FSU, I think they are a "power", not a quasi-power, despite the struggles of the past five years. IMO "Power" does reflect the totality of a program, not just what has happened since the Obama administration.

Agreed. A previous posters trolling aside, I think there’s plenty of teams that could be classified as a football power. To best do this I believe you have to take a programs legacy into consideration, not just the past 5 or so years. So I’d consider McNeese a power. Their program has historically put in work. I think they’ve earned the title. A few down years doesn’t erase that legacy.

They lost 62-10 the year before that.

Bucknell vs Fordham has been postponed.
I have my doubts the Lehigh-Holy Cross game will be played next week given the Covid troubles in Worcester.

I’m glad the East Coasters are finally underway. It’s really hard to vote for a top 25 when some teams have played two games and others none.
I’m eager to see Nova finally play. Delaware and Maine, too.
It’s starting to look like North Dakota might be this year’s NDSU.

Yes, today we get a full slate of games, or close to it, with just about everyone playing involved now.
It's like FBS was in September/October, with weird rankings because some conference had played a few games while others had not.
