I'm not necessarily bothered by what Cruz did. It undoubtedly "looks" bad, but it doesn't really amount to much of substance.

Like when people got mad at Obama because he didn't "show up" to some disaster area to furrow his brow, look sullen, and the leave after promising federal aid (which he could have just as easily done in DC).

Same for those killing W. for taking a couple extra days to do the dog and pony show after Katrina.

I think detractors are stupid in both situations and it's 100% dependent upon an R or D.

Makes no difference to me. If the past year has taught us anything, it's that one doesn't have to be in an exact geographic location to get any potential work done.

Okay, so what if Cruz went on vacation. Let's use some common sense here and not try to politicize this because really it doesn't have any merit. What, pray tell, could/can Cruz do about the frozen power units? Not a darn thing. Of what use would he be by staying when in actuality the governor is responsible for the state and its affairs? Nothing. Him staying would just be for the OPTICS and if he ventured out into the streets and into people's homes of what good would it have done? Not a darn thing. I actually agree with what Saluki wrote and if I'm not wrong he's a Liberal.

What people that are easily outrage want politicians to do is to stay at home, do optics and wring their hands but in effect NOT BE ABLE TO HELP IN ANY WAY...and for what reason? None that makes any sense.

Heck, I'm not a politician but even as such I'd go on vacation. Just turn off the water main and forget about the house until the freeze runs its course. Now, that's common sense.
