This was not helped by the fact that the GOP did zero legislatively to change Obamacare.

It won't easy with the biased media and corruptocrats that permeate the GOP like Senator Burr

Thanks John McCain. The GOP tried. Trump removed the penalty. That POS McCain screwed it up.

My family is from Zapata County, so I have clear insight into why the county turned red. First, the majority of the voting population in Zapata County consider themselves to be Tejanos. The region is one of the oldest Spanish settled areas in Texas. My family arrived there by way of Veracruz in 1748. Mexico did not gain independence from Spain until 1821. So, these people do not take kindly to Mexicans sneaking into the country and sucking up resources that they need for their families. The violence from the cartels along Falcon Lake is also a concern to these people. They have a rich and proud heritage that they don't want it confused with Mexican culture, like what has happened in San Antonio. The Zapata County Museum of History is a wonderful place to learn more. Here is a link.

I have no data to back it up but they seem to be religious, hard working and value traditional families.

The are conservative.

You are absolutely right. Fundamentally they are conservative except when it comes to party lines. Like I've said a quadrillion times in El Paso even though they are catholic and many of the ideas of the Demoncraptic Party conflict with their religion they still are brainwashed into voting for them. It's not that they are dumb it's that they have had that mindset for decades and as brainwashing goes it is something that they don't want to let go and the media keeps giving them the false narratives that they swallow wholehardedly. I think they think that they are being unAmerican by voting for (as some see it) the Rich Peoples Party even though it's the Demons who tax them unceasingly, not to forget issues that even the Pope is against. The trouble there also is that the majority are buffet catholics. I know it because I was one of them for many years. I used to root everytime someone converted to catholicism not now.

Fun fact: Mexico has fewer Catholic priests per capita than the USA does.

You're right that Mexicans tend to be buffet Catholics. Mexico's government repressed the Church pretty heavily in the middle part of the 20th century. So the first generation immigrants aren't super devout.

Second generation Mexican-Americans are another story though. In Southern California, they're more American on average than white folks.
