RE: NMSU vs GCU
Aggies played much better tonight then expected. NMSU isn't even in game shape nor have peaked. It seems GCU has peaked. They're pretty much the same team that played in November and December. NMSU will be dangerous in March. GCU benefiting of getting both games vs NMSU at home and the fact NMSU hasn't had much practice nor game experience. Congrats on the win tonight though.

RE: NMSU vs GCU
NMSU was not sharp offensively. Many of our key players had off nights. Henry looked very rusty.

Kudos to Lopes87 and gleadley. GCU won fair and square. I was bracing for a 20 point blowout (at best). No excuses. Enjoy the victory. You guys are pure class.

RE: NMSU vs GCU
This was good game for NMSU to have played at this point. They had a little of everything. Close enough to get some big game experience, some good successes to build on, like rebounding and free throw shooting, and some things things to work on, like offensive, and also some defensive fine turning.
If either team had won or lost by a large margin, it wouldn't have been as productive. This kept the Aggies "live" all night and no possessions were simply going thru the motions.

Biggest difference was the FT shooting
NMSU 25-33
GCU 11-12
Most of this was b/c NMSU has 17 OREBs tonight. If NMSU wasn't fantastic at attacking the boards they would have lost by 15 or so. Kudos to them.

RE: NMSU vs GCU
I will give congrats to GCU, y’all have a tough squad. Like others I’m ok with the loss last night considering what I expected. The rust and lack of game time was obvious in the way that our first threes fell and after that we bricked so many.
But damn that Mikey Dixon is a hell of a shooter. I got to hand it to GCUs offense last night. There was a point where they were scoring at will on high percentage shots. And it wasn’t for lacking of defense on NMUSs part. GCU was just out-executing us. Well deserved, hard fought win.
One thing I will say, omg your broadcasters lol Jesus I’ve never heard anyone call a game that animated like they were the DJ at a strip club.

Appreciate the kind words. If the Aggies were healthy with more games under their belts, last night is an easy NMSU win. I'm actually really looking forward to see what adjustments both Jans and Drew make heading into Game 2.

Jim Howell is about the only GCU broadcaster I can stand. Unfortunately, he usually only fills in on the radio side when Potter isn't available. If you've caught any GCU WBB games, you may have heard Howell.
Potter is great on baseball and does a good job calling non-GCU basketball games during the WAC tournament, but he is just too whiny about officiating when he is on GCU games. Scott Williams isn't awful, but Barry ruins the TV broadcasts with his orgasmic calls of otherwise underwhelming plays. Coro is solid in print, but he really doesn't belong on air anywhere.

We need to get rid of all these homer broadcasters on TV and radio. NMSU is lucky to have professionals in Jack Nixon and Adam Young, two of the best in the league.

But NMSU is always fantastic at attacking the boards especially under Chris Jans so no surprise that NMSU kicked GCU butt in rebounding AGAIN!

Barry when he called NHL games for Buffalo and Minn he was good. GCU Barry is on some NBA Jam level stuff. Also all home broadcast are homers, its just the level they go with it. The only one that got under my skin was the Bake guy a few years back. Potter is whinny for sure and Howell also has his moments with GCU WBB. The other thing that's important is how were these guys brought up calling games. I think those with a baseball background are naturally just better calling games. Adam Young and Howell are just better at it than others in the WAC. I also think Young know he doesn't want to stay in LC long term and has bigger aspirations where Barry is super comfy with his current situation and I think that has some play here as well.

The other reason Barry is pretty comfy in his gig is the fact that he runs the GCUTV program, so he basically reports to himself

Sounds like Glen Cerny, former NMSU Play by Play/ran AggieVision.

Crazy to think that GCU needed a deadly global pandemic to finally beat Chris Jan's led NMSU squad.

It's only the truth though. I mean you first get both games vs NMSU at home and then NMSU has about 8 weeks taken from them due to COVID. I know you guys don't like to hear the truth.
