RE: MBB Games vs Drexel
Drexel 9 for their last 14. W&M 3 for their last 14.

26% shooting this half.

Shooting 8-25 this half. Not sure why we only have one time out left to use.

Felt like we were jobbed out of free throws on a lot of our drives, but in general a poor showing offensively, most likely heavily impacted by a strong Drexel defense.

Well that was fun. Glad we arranged to take a guaranteed L against one of the top three teams in the league. I’m sure it won’t hurt our eventual seed in the CAA tourney at all. Maybe the league could arrange for us to play Drexel two more times next weekend instead of Towson if the Tigers and Huskies come down with Covid

Nobody played well on either end of the court. If it weren't for their turnovers and being able to rebound some of our own wild shots, it wouldn't have even been as close at 15.

I know, right! I hate it when we take a guaranteed L against a team we beat just last Sunday. I mean, what were we thinking?!?!

With today's Drexel win, Drexel increases their CAA road record in 4+ years under Zach Spiker to a pitiful 5-34. 2 of those 5 wins were at Kaplan against W&M.

We don't do well at home with Drexel.

Marcus Thornton's final home game before a big crowd ready to celebrate his career at W&M was
a dud of a loss to Drexel.

It’s odd but I don’t ever remember playing Drexel in a CAA tourney game. It seems always JMU, Elon or Hofstra.

MBB Games vs Drexel
Drexel is a good team. Other than their shocking collapse against us at the end of Game2, they play very solid defense (best we’ve seen all year IMO) and have a disciplined offensive game, with all-CAA talent on the perimeter and the inside.

You mean other than being 3-1 vs Drexel at home over the past 4 years?

The Tribe has never played Drexel in the CAA tourney.

Since the Dragons joined the CAA, the Tribe has played JMU in the tourney 7 times. The Tribe has only played UNCW once in this time frame. The Tribe has played CoC 4 times in the few years they have been in the league, which ties them for the second most tourney games played against the Tribe with ODU, Hofstra and Towson.

Not sure why I felt compelled to look this up, but I couldn't remember ever playing Drexel in the tournament either and that seemed odd to me. Kind of fun looking at the years when the Tribe played 2, 3 or even 4 games in the tourney. Gonna miss the tournament experience this year, streaming games just isn't the same thing.

We only played CoC twice, 2014 and 2018 (when they won). Full tourney records in the ECACS/CAA are below.

In addition to the Drexel stat, kinda crazy that the two Delaware games are the game that got Tony fired and *that* game.

Baltimore 0-0
Catholic 0-0
St. Francis 0-0
Robert Morris 1-0 (W '81)

Navy 1-3 (W '82/L '84, '85, '87)

American 1-4 (W '88/L '91, '93, '98, '99)
Richmond 1-1 (W '80/L '86)
East Carolina 2-0 (W '83, '84)

George Mason 0-3 (L '88, '89, '08)
VCU 2-1 (W '97, '08/L '06)
Old Dominion 1-6 (W '08/L '80, '94, '97, '01, '05, '10)
Georgia State 1-1 (W '08/L '07)

JMU 5-10 (W '85, '05, '10, '11, '16/L '81, '82, '83, '90, '92, '95, '00, '02, '09, '13)
UNCW 0-2 (L '96, '17)
Hofstra 1-3 (W '15/L '03, L '11, '16)
Towson 2-1 (W '14, '18/L '04)
Northeastern 1-2 (W '10/L '12, L '15)
Charleston 1-1 (W '14/L '18)
Delaware 0-2 (L '14, '19)
Elon 2-1 (W' 15, '17/L '20)
Drexel 0-0

There is good reason for this. Drexel and W&M have tended to be right near each other in the standings it seems, either good or bad but never middling at the same time. And with Drexel rarely advancing in the CAAT (under either regime) there was only ever 1 chance a year to meet them so chances werent good. If Drexel ever advanced we probably would have played you at some point

We were the #3 during our finals run in 2010 when Drexel was the #6, but they lost to #11 JMU.

Then last year when we were the #2, Drexel could've easily been the #7, but they blew a four-game lead over Elon. Could've changed things when a couple of those Elon guys played the game of their life against us.

(I think about that game a lot not only because it was a stinging loss, but because it was the last time I was in a group larger than four.)
