RE: Jags Land P5 Transfer QB
The last time I recall that we landed a P5 transfer quarterback was Ross Metheney. He played two years - our 2012 not eligible for anything season and 2013, which was our first full FBS season. In 2013 he lead us to a 6-6 record, but lost three games by 1 point, one game by 2 points, and one game by 7 points. Three of those games (Southern Utah, Troy, and Texas State) were lost in the closing seconds (Prevent D anyone?). But we were close to breaking out that year. Three points kept us from being 9-3. Five points kept us from being 10-2. Twelve points kept us from being 11-1. Navy whipped our butts and was the only game that wasn’t close.
Welcome to the SBC, Jake!

South Carolina > Utah > South Alabama
Per JagsJungle:
Bentley began his career at South Carolina after graduating from Opelika High School as a four-star prospect. Midway through his freshman year he seized the starting position and would hold onto to until a foot injury felled him early in the 2019 season. With the benefit of a redshirt season he was able to retain a year of eligibility that he chose to use at the university of Utah. After starting the season as a backup, he moved into the starting role for the final four games, completing 62.1% of his passes for 882 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions (although three of those were Hail Mary attempts at the end of halves). All told, he's thrown for 8,409 yards with 62 TDs and 38 interceptions in his career while completing 62.4% of his attempts.

Seems like he would be better suited in the G5.

I remember that QB, that was a heck of a game we had that year. IIRC we were up by two scores most of the game but y'all hung around and were playing catch up the whole game, then managed to throw to bombs to take the lead and then we broke y'alls hearts by completing a 70+ yard pass on 4th and 29 and kicking a field goal to win it.

RE: Jags Land P5 Transfer QB
I was wondering where he would end up. That's a good get. He'll really give USA a boost offensively.
He apparently had some interest in Troy since his old high school HC is an assistant coach there, but it didn't pan out... I imagine he probably wanted somewhere that he could be the starter, and USA is a good fit for that. He would've been in a QB battle at Troy between himself, Gunnar Watson, Jacob Free, and Taylor Powell (transfer via Mizzou).

His brother is a GA for Troy so that will make for an interesting Battle for the Belt!

He also had offers from Arkansas State, Kansas and Tennessee. Arkansas State and Tennessee both have returning QBs and it's hard to look good playing for Kansas.

RE: Jags Land P5 Transfer QB
PLEASE NOTICE.... Jake Bentley threw for 510 pass yards, 5 TD's, and 1 INT against Clemson in 2018, the same year Clemson went 15-0 and won the national title.
To put that into perspective, these top QB's in 2018 weren't even able to come close to doing that against Clemson:
Kellen Mond - 430 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT
Tua Tagovailoa - 295 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
Ian Book - 165 yards, 0TD, 1 INT
Daniel Jones - 158 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT
Ryan Finley - 156 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT
Jeez... the Sun Belt is LOADING up on talent once again.
This conference is getting tougher and tougher...

Seems like it, but he likes South, Coaches Wommack and Applewhite. He is also happy that he's back in the state of Alabama to finish out his college career.

App got Clemson's back-up QB from 2018...engineered a 13 play, 94 yard drive for the win against Syracuse.
Should be fun. Bentley v. Brice
I suppose the Sun Belt taking positions vacated by C-USA and the MWC in 2020 really helped with visibility. Lot's of name brand coaches coming in as well as higher profile transfers. Recruiting also seems to be up across the board.
