If the coach holds their spot and wants them back, yes. Once you're in the portal, the team doesn't have any responsibility to hold a scholarship for you.

Considering we have 13 receivers on scholarship (and 4 more walk-ons), I'd Jackson is fully aware of there he is in that discussion. Malick Mbodj ended up at Youngstown State with Doug Collins btw...didn't see that reported.

I thought Jackson showed a lot of promise early on. Seems to me that Michael Young Jr. basically took his spot.

Best of luck to Jackson as well if he doesn’t come back as he played a part in the success the team has had over the last few years or so!

Plenty of walk-ons sprinkled on the roster as well.

Figured an update to the OL Board was in order given all of the movement as well...based on free podcasts and tweets about spring ball, so there may be an issue here or there. [Fixed from Hawk's update]

Per Jason Williams, Cam and walk-on (!) Joe Huber getting most of the 2nd string reps behind the top 3 T you listed. He also said Cody Lamb is running with the 2nd team and Landon with the 3rd team at Center.so far (so maybe Woodside was more of a look-see thing?)

Jonesboro has a nice college town feel (the city is much bigger than Oxford, Athens, BG, etc). You can get to Memphis in about an hour.

My guess is Jakari has a better situation that opened up- I would not be surprised if it is in fact Memphis since the AAC just changed the intra-conference transfer rule.

What is it about Coach Butch Jones and holding down OL recruits?

Selfishly, I would love for this to be him having a change of heart and returning to Cincinnati. That said, I don't blame him for not wanting to be a backup. He'll be a solid starter for someone.

No room for him here.

Scholarships are all spoken for, yeah? That's what I figured. Always love having experience in the 2-deep, but this staff has recruited really well on the offensive line, and I'm sure the 2nd- and 3rd- year depth guys will be serviceable if called upon.

Yeah we’re maxed on the 85

We are probably not maxed on the 85, we are absolutely maxed on the 25 per year, however.

I don't think that would matter here since he isn't technically an intake as he is still enrolled at UC.

Having said that, I would assume he left because he wants to start and he clearly would not be doing that here...so he ain't coming back either way.

Good point about the 25 limit. As far as him perhaps considering a return - who knows?

Move Metz to Center then he would not jump his snap. Of course the rest of the team might.

He'd still flinch or something.

He needs the equivalent of career counseling: "Son, not everyone can be a football player..."
