This has to be the worst take I've seen regarding this game not being played.
I agree
And that is yalls opinion. I was being over dramatic on purpose. Why even get tested on Thursday? It’s not like the coach was forced to. I know a ton of coaches and they will all tell you the unwritten rule is to not get tested unless you are forced by conference or league affiliation. The game was a go...just don’t get tested at that point.

That's not it. Team tested on Wednesday. Got the results back on Thursday. The positive test was retested on Thursday directly at lab. Positive test was verified.

RE: Sun Belt title game canceled after positive test...
There is no disputing the positive test, one player, one coach, one staff.
CCU decided they didn’t need to play.
Other programs had a much more severe scenario (OSU) and they decided to play because they had a lot to gain. CCU knew they only needed Cincy to lose even if they beat ULL.
You don’t take risks when you have no reward. Not what sports fans want to hear nor in the spirit of what sports are about, but that’s the Business side rearing its head.

Results are reported to the conference office. You are acting like Coastal has the final decision. It is the conference. They followed the established protocol on if games should be canceled or not.

You realize it was in the conferences best interest as well. Again this was a business decision. Most programs would have done it, probably App as well. Glad we don’t have this stigma going forward though.

I really hate that this game wasn't played because it would have been a great one! My personal opinion is that UL has more momentum and more experience in these situations and likely would have won, but we will never know. I hate it for the players and fans of both programs. The Coastal program has had an incredible season, but it now left with a question where the championship should have been. Louisiana was finishing strong and has paid dues for three years now and they were robbed of the chance to finish what they started.
I'm not making accusations about why the game wasn't played, but everybody involved was diminished a little bit...except for Louisiana. They were diminished a lot!
Congrats to both programs. Just go win your bowl games for the SBC and so we can have this topic to gripe about for the entire off season! :-D
Ya had me right until that last line. This will last FAR longer then one off season.
No doubt about it lasting beyond the off-season, but I expect this to dominate during that period.

Oh covid is real, it impacts elderly and those with existing conditions. The rest of us can use the veil of covid to our advantage when the risk/reward equation works out better for us personally and we can do so in the name of science.
I know I’ve won the debate when others resort to memes not counter points. Congrats guys.

Was it in the Big Ten’s best interest to allow OSU to play?
Wake up defenders of CCU (and now defenders of Gill after whining about them last week).

B1G was different, Ohio St had only played 5 games, they had to have the CCG to remain relevant.

That’s been my point all week. This is a risk based decision making process. The reward wasn’t worth the risk for CCU. If CCU or the conference needed that game to improve their status the game would have been played.
To deny that shows a lack of understanding the business side of this sport.

While that is true, a Cincinnati loss and a Louisiana win would still result in the SBC Champ in the NY6 bowl. A close Cinci win and a dominant Coastal win, could have allowed Coastal to jump Cincinnati.
Instead the SBC took the least likely path to a NY6 bowl and it backfired.

In a visible example of the SBC being the clear #2 G5 this year is the undefeated MWC champ is lower in the AP poll than a one lose UL
