There "all of a sudden" was no more Power money. The same thing could/would happen in the BigXII if we got invited, and then Texas and Oaky leave.

I don't know where to start...

Then don't. You know I'm right. Definition of insanity and all that...

What should Texas have to do to satisfy us before we allow the Big 12 to give us an extra $45 million per year in extra tv and ticket revenue every year? What would be fair?

Sign a GOR? 12 years? IDK.... just spit-ballin' here.

Our TV contract is for $7.5 million per year. If we followed your instincts with the Big East, we would be making $400,000 per year in CUSA now. IF we don't go to the Big 12 if we get an invite and Texas and Oklahoma leave this is what we would be looking at.

NEW Big 12
Memphis
Cincinnati
UCF
Houston
Oklahoma State
West Virginia
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State

NEW AAC
Memphis
Tulsa
SMU
Temple
USF
Tulane
Navy
ECU
Marshall
Florida Atlantic
Western Kentucky
UAB

The Big 12 will still make somewhere in the neighborhood of $15-25 million per year. The new AAC will make between $1-3 million. Also, keep in mind that the state of Oklahoma would never allow Oklahoma to abandon Oklahoma State, the same is probably true about Texas; and no P5 will take more than one school from any state.

I think it would be better to accept Texas not having to "get over" themselves and take the extra $40-50 million every year.

The projections under the new contract are for each school in the SEC to receive approximately $63,000,000 annually in tv revenue alone. That's some coattails.

Enough to build a new stadium every 3 years and still have our current revenue to spend.

I gotta idea... let's lobby Congress to restrict all FBS conferences to 12 million dollars (total) per year. Level the playing field.

Replace Collegiate with China, and it's a go.

I mean.... From each conference according to their ability, to each conference according to their need. Right?

Valid counterpoint!

Plus... I like how we can make our points sarcastically.

I had the same thoughts as I read this thread. Television contract negotiations might spur expansion moves. I would replace SMU with UCF in your list, though.

I wouldn't make that move until Texas is over themselves. No Texas, no Power designation.

You still jump at the chance. Old vs New:
Memphis - Memphis
Cincy - Cincy
UCF - UCF
Houston - Houston
SMU - Okie State
Tulsa - Iowa St
Tulane - TCU
ECU - West Va
Temple - K-State
USF - Baylor
Navy/Wichita - Kansas
empty - Texas Tech

Even if the money is not Texas money, it's still more than the AAC and it's more competitive (with better bowls and more NCAA "eye test" prestige).

Flush the Big XII! AAC adds five and becomes the #4 of the power 5 set. Additions: West VA, TCU, Oklahoma, OkSt, Iowa St. That is sixteen total teams for a very attractive TV package that could improve upon anything both the BigXii or the PAC bring to the table.
The draw for the Oklahoma schools: games in the eastern time zone. Winning a 16 team conference title demands respect. You could do it with an 8 game conference schedule, but I believe 9 or better yet 10 game conference schedule would provide TV friendly content. Navy could keep playing Army and Air Force. It also would eliminate the need for P5 OOC games, giving AAC teams better barglning positions (home and home) should they desire to play OOC games. Boys down the alley like this plan.

I can’t speak for Ike, but I’m wondering who could keep a straight face while pitching that to Oklahoma.

Yeah
They go from playing one-third of their games vs Texas teams - where they get about 50% of their roster...
To playing one game a year.
They give up Kansas, K-State, Baylor, TTU - but get Tulsa, Tulane, ECU, Temple.
Ain't happening.
