I saw Maya at the fotball game and she said her legs are in good shape and all healed and ready to go.

Not much recruiting news recently, it seems. But an update on Aniah Alexis, one of the 2024 signees. She's averaging a pretty ridiculous 31.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.9 steals on shooting splits of 62/57/80. Her team isn't great but she plays in 6A so the competition should at least be decent (although that doesn't seem to be the case looking at some of her highlights).

My observation for the past several years is that girls basketball in Houston has suffered a ton in recent years, mostly at the hands of volleyball. A ton of the best girls athletes in the Houston area have chosen to concentrate on volleyball over basketball.
Outside of Cy Creek, there really haven’t been any good prep teams in Houston in some time. For whatever the reason, it doesn’t seem to be as big of an issue in the rest of the state - just Houston.
That said, it does sound like Alexis is going to be a big impact player next year. She might have been at the game last night with her mom. At first, I thought it might have been one of Trinity Gooden’s younger sisters. But I think it was Alexis instead. The recruit we signed from Oklahoma is also doing well - she is that state’s number two recruit according to one service I read.
That’s good news because after really solid recruiting classes for our current juniors and sophomores, we haven’t seen anything at all from our current freshmen. But we have a very good class so far with the 2024 signees.
