Her and Maya graduated. I haven't heard anything of them not coming back for another year yet.

One (or both of them even) could easily retire from basketball and serve as a graduate assistant coach. I saw we were looking for at least one new grad assistant a few weeks ago.

Women added two new staff members today. I suspect both are new positions, reflecting the larger men’s basketball staff in place?

Roster still hasn’t been updated but a new release on two staff promotions mentions 13 players are back from last years team. That definitely means one player from last year is not coming back (and how we had an opening for the TCU transfer).

Do they count Zhang who is a walk on? If yes, then I would have to guess Samb who graduated. Maya also graduated but from what I recall players posted on her Instagram that she was coming back for another one.

WBB posted some practice videos this morning. Samb and Zhang were absent from them. Could also just mean they are finishing some other summer things. Good news, Shelby and Ennis are both practicing with the team.

The 2024-25 roster is now online. Only Zhang is missing. 16 players listed I’m not going to worry about it - maybe it will change later but the old rules no longer apply in college athletics anymore.

The bottom line is our roster is stacked. Deepest roster I can ever remember. Maybe not as talented as the ones that won CUSA under Langley, but that was only 6 or 7 deep. And if the freshmen are as talented as I think, we could easily be as good this year as the Erica/Mulkey team.

Yeah, looks like Zhang updated her LinkedIn to say that she was a student-athlete, ending May 2024. She's working in a lab this summer and also working in the Jones School Admissions Office.

I agree with FBO that it's a deep roster, but I'm not quite as high on the team yet. Certainly there's great potential. But not one of our three bigs is a great paint defender and there are still question marks about how the offense is going to click without Jackson, because her influence last year cannot be understated. Is Owens-Barnett ready to take the keys? Are we going to implement a no-PG system? Does Flores become the primary handler? I do think it'll be an exciting season, though. Expecting a big sophomore leap from Adams and it sounds like everybody is super excited about Twiehaus and Alexis. Also should be interesting to see if Conley can crack the rotation.

I think you are going to see a huge surge in interest in WBB at the college level as a result of the Caitlin Clark effect in the WMBA. I would recommend Rice double the ticket prices for WBB or at least increase ticket prices 50%. The $80 dollars for season ticket is too cheap. That is also true for women volleyball.

Very solid pickup. Our top rated recruit in several years, although we’ve had higher rated transfers (the Cal transfer and then the current TCU transfer). And some of our top HS recruits were woefully underrated.

Probably leaves us with two scholarships left. We need some height and inside players at this point.
