If you think the NBA is one on one ball then you definitely dont watch the NBA.
Agree. That was true about the nba 25 years ago. It’s not like that anymore. They give max effort on almost every play and run the most sophisticated sets you’ll ever see. They do not pound the ball or just attempt to go 1 on 1. The level of skill is unreal in terms of shooting and finishing with close defenders and it’s insanely physical.
It’s 5 times better than college basketball in terms of aesthetics.

Well said Atlanta. Unfortunately without a preseason Penny has not had time to figure rotations out. Just going to have to make some decisions.
He hasnt figured out a rotation in any previous season either. This isnt something new and caused by covid. Penny wants certain players to be what he wants them to be even if they are not.
Square peg meets round hole.

This is worse than Pastner. But Pastner at least had JJ to help him survive.
Is that the guy/coach that actually took us to our last few (3-4) tournaments ?
Joe jackson, Cc, Tarik black, Adonis, and will Barton did that by themselves. This team is about the same level as it was those years after JJ graduated and we would go .500 in conference play. Pastner deserves 0 credit for those as he’s shown in the 8 years since.

Yeah the guy who took a ferrari and turned it into a PINTO.
That guy would coach circles around Penny! I guarantee Pastner would have beaten WKU and VCU with this team.

Wonder when we will start seeing that development. As of yet all of these high school allstars have been less than expected. You can say Precious, but did Precious really improve? He came in game one and left at the end and seemed to be the same tenacious, high energy player, but development?
Precious definitely improved and should be very grateful for his time here.
Penny is blind if he thinks ALo is our PG. I like the kid but Penny lets him play rec ball.
I hope Penny figures it out and never again plays Jayden and Alo together unless we are up 25
Jayden is better than Alo people bag on him cause he’s not a superstar like Penny but when Jayden come in the game it doesn’t bother me at all cause he plays hard and plays within himself he rarely forces anything cause he knows he will come out and won’t get back in. As far as the rest of them go however they don’t have those types of restrictions placed in their play. So they do what they want with minimum consequences.

I say it last night.. Jayden Hardaway was a pleasant surprise.. He has improved his game from last year.. I have to admit it, I was hard on Jayden last year.
He has truly earned his spot on the roster this year.. as for some other players.. Lester is overrated AF, not even a decent sharpshooter.. This team plays a lot better without Quinones and Lomax.. Baugh needs to be the starting PG.

This wouldn't me MT.ORG without that being the main narrative.
I reject such sweeping negativity this early in the year. Penny's first team showed obvious growth and improved late in the season, last years team showed defensive growth all year but never found its offensive stride.
We're 3 games in this year, way too early to make such judgments.
If you say so. I see no adjustments, no plays just beat your man if you can. Problem is 5 other guys play as a team.
No one is arguing the fact that it was too much one on one and no offensive flow at all. You are preaching to the choir on that.
Its the first week of the season, if you have already given up on Penny and the team then that is your problem.
Many of us disagree with that and are willing to let the season play out a bit more that just one week. I have seen countless tiger teams stink it up and play like this early in the season and really improve throughout the year. We will know this spring if the season was a disappointing failure or not, I'm not making that judgement in November.

Is Penny overvalued as a coach? Is he now Centavo? Can he regain his worth? Turn in next game to How The Tiger Roars.

I wouldn't say I've given up on Penny, but last year he had Achiuwa and the year before he had Martin. Who do we have on this team to keep us from looking this bad all year?

Pastner couldn’t have recruited this team, so what’s the point of discussing it?
He’s now coaching in the ACC and can barely fill a roster. In five years at GT he has signed one (1) four star recruit and managed to get two others via transfer. That’s it. In his final year at Memphis, his last three classes had been #3, #37 & #9 nationally and #1, #2 & #1 in the AAC. He finished 19-15 that year. Over those same three years, he finished 61-39 and was fired for the effort. The same fate that awaits him at Tech.
