Boogie needs to be on the floor. Let him make mistakes, but gain confidence & success. We have no one else who can play the PG anywhere close to his ability. And he can be awesome when he's on.

Boogie is a good scorer...Not sure if he is a good facilitator though.

Through 2 games, unscientific eye test, I think Baugh has the greatest impact on how the team runs.

I'm not sure you are wrong there. I like Alex Lomax. Just not as a starting point guard. Too many turnovers, scared to take a shot when he's wide open, dribble dribble dribble, bad ally oops etc etc. I've seen enough.

Yep same old song and dance. Give me Baugh, Nolley, LQ, DJ and Cisse. 2nd group can be Boogie, Malcolm (and LT if need be). Play ALo sparingly and zero minutes for Jayden. That gives you your best chance to win.

RE: Boogie Ellis
I don't know why Lomax has all of a sudden become shy about shooting open shots from outside. What I wonder is who the assists are going to come from out of Boogie, LQ and Baugh. Watching Baugh, he doesn't even look to create shots for others. He is either driving to the basket or he is way out on the perimeter and either exclusively defending his dribble or passing off when a defender gets close to him. LQ does, but he's not quick enough; so he is also using all his energy on defending his dribble. Boogie is probably going to be our best bet, but he hasn't exactly been trying to run the offense as a point guard. The minute he sees a tiny opening, he is putting up a shot or driving.
Posters crap on Lomax. Last season out of Lomax, Baugh, LQ and Boogie, Lomax was #1 in field goal percentage, #1 in 3 point shooting percentage (by a wide margin), and #2 in free throw shooting. He was #1 in assists by a wide margin. IF anything, we should be cheering for Lomax to become more assertive taking outside shots. He is for sure the only guard on our team that tries to get others involved when he runs the offense.
Baugh so far hasn't shown the handle, nor the vision needed to be a distributor, and LQ just isn't quick enough to get inside and either finish or dish off to open players. Option one is Lomax taking and hitting outside shots. Option two is Boogie becoming committed to running the offense properly.
That's where we are.

While Alo has not been great scoring the ball...he has played good defense and has a good assist to TO ratio.
If I were rating the worst performing players on the team right now Alo wouldn't be on the bottom...
From the bottom it would be:
Lester
DJ
Alo

I never said Baugh needs to be starting point guard. I merely said that through 2 games, he seems to be the one player who has the greatest impact driving the tempo and making things happen on both sides of the ball.

All of our players would benefit greatly from having a great point guard. All of the flaws we see in all of them would disappear as if by magic. I would trade any two players (except Cisse and Dandridge together) on the roster right now for a very good point guard. I would even trade Boogie and Cisse together. That's how much we need either Boogie or Lomax to step up to become one.
I'm the last guy to talk in absolutes about sophmores two games into a season, but I don't think Baugh or LQ will ever become good point guards. Baugh hasn't improved his handle and LQ isn't fast enough. I haven't seen anything from either that tells me that they will be able to get into the lane and create opportunities for other players.
Lomax can, but he needs to be able to shoot and hit from outside. Boogie can potentially, but his mindset is completely opposite of a point guard's. He will never be Antonio Burks or Andre Turner. He CAN be Joe Jackson.

After two games, the sample size isn't worth mentioning, but if you expand the two games over an entire season; LQ has to be able to hit wide open 3's and DJ can't keep missing wide open shots in general. I'm sure both will improve.
For all of the griping after two games, IF DJ and LQ hit shots they should hit, we are 2-0.

RE: Boogie Ellis
Boogie getting only 6 shots is pitiful. This is on the coaches. Start the kid and run the offense through him and Nolley.
