Muschamp out at South Carolina
Personally, I didn't think this was a great hire in the first place. If the guy couldn't get it done at Florida then South Carolina is probably not a great spot.

It will be interesting to see how South Carolina goes after.

If I was the AD then I would be thinking along these lines...

Bill Clark - UAB
Hugh Freeze - Liberty (as crazy as it sounds, someone is going to give him a shot at the P5 level)
Steve Sarkisian - OC at Alabama
Joe Brady - OC with Carolina Panthers

I think Sark gets the chance. Not basing it off any information but he’s done pretty well under Saban and there’s been a bit of time since his USC issues.

If I'm Sark then I wait a couple more years and see what Nick Saban is doing. He could be in line to take over. He's ready to be a HC again, but he's not an old guy by any means. He has time to be patient.

I wouldn't jump on the South Carolina job if for no other reason than Spurrier was really the only one that consistently won games there. To me, it's not a premier job unless your opportunities are more limited.

It feels like a perfect job for Huge Freeze assuming Carolina wants to take the risk.

Jamey Chadwell from Coastal likely option 2

Dark wait for Saban’s retirement?

Would Alabama even offer Sark the HC spot? They’d knock on Dabo’s do first and then take the pick of the litter after that.

Could Hugh Freeze compete against Florida and Georgia at South Carolina? It would suck if in 3-5 years ya find out Freeze was really will Muschamp 2.0.

IMO Chadwell is the better hire for several reasons.

His offense is more impressive.

He has achieved more in an area with less athletes to draw from.

He would adapt to South Carolina more easily.

I have nothing against Napier.

RE: Muschamp out at South Carolina
This is a weird season, and as a TN fan I know coaching hires can be botched (and people on the interweb in several places like RockyTopTalk are already talking of canning Pruitt... which I think is ridiculous).

That being said, I don't think USCe fires Muschamp unless they already know who they are getting. I think it is going to be Hugh Freeze and if something happens that damages that option, Sark is the backup.

They'll talk to Dabo, but Dabo has a very good thing going. He also doesn't have real competition within his conference. Nonetheless, he gets paid top dollar. He will listen because it's his alma mater and his love for it is genuine, but I don't think he'll pull the trigger.

The thing about filling Saban's shoes is no one is literally going to do that. It's very hard to replace a legend and the top candidates will be reluctant to do so unless they have Alabama ties.

Mario Cristobal is a name that gets thrown around every now and then, but who knows.

I do think they would give Sark a shot under the right circumstances. He has a good pedigree and I haven't heard anything bad about the guy. The question to me is timing. When will Saban retire? Does anyone know? Does Saban himself know?

Freeze has always been a more successful HC than Muschamp. Muschamp was a great DC, but never did much at Florida with all those resources. Certainly didn't win much at South Carolina.

Freeze turned Ole Miss into a relevant power. I mean, that team hadn't been truly relevant in nearly 50 years. He did a great job at Arkansas State and Liberty so he has a track record at multiple levels.

Of course, Ole Miss had a lot of blatant cheating and then there's Freeze's personal indiscretions. That's what South Carolina has to decide whether or not they want to deal with.

My wife HATED This guy when he was first hired. She called him coach Musstake. He’s not a HC, he’s a DC. He’s out of his lane, but he is a genius! Dude made 25 million in contract buyouts.

Still, Good riddance!

A 25 million dollar buyout is classic Jimmy Sexton (Muschamp's agent). Truly for him "This is the way!" Muschamp is not even good DC material. He is a strong defensive back coach (linebackers in particular) and he has great recruiting skills. He lacks organizational and communication skills (as in with staff).

I cautioned the board, particularly South Carolina fans, when he was hired. The saddest part is that he hurt Florida and South Carolina and while occupying both HC positions apparently learned nothing about how to be Head Coach.

A couple of years ago as the season was approaching, when asked what needed to improve about the offense, Muschamp said "well, we need to score more points."

That's not even coach-speak. That's just a dumb thing to say.

You might as well say we need to throw and catch in order to complete passes.
