RE: The carrousel is beginning to turn.
There are some coaches (like Tyson Summers) who are "fire him now and worry about who replaces him later" guys. Anderson isn't one of those guys and he's a guy I'd want to to have a good short list available for you to make a coaching change.

Of course Anderson wasn't fired but this is very similar to "fire him and figure out who to hire later" except you at least get the buyout money.

So how much confidence do Ark State fans have in Mohajir finding someone better?

How about Bret Bielema? Or potentially Gus Malzahn if he gets fired from Auburn?

Both are familiar with Arkansas, and would be splashy hires based on the name and prior accomplishments.

Rhett Lashlee would be an interesting hire. Is he head coach material yet? His multiple offense would certainly do well in the Sun Belt.

Absolutely no on Bielema. I'd definitely take Malzahn back. Hesitant on Lashlee, but possible.

CBT, are you day drinking? That Bielema suggestion is a strong NO!

I'm probably missing an inside joke but for those who might not remember Rhett was stAte's "OC" under Malzahn in 2012- that was our best Sun Belt team by the end of the season. He coached Ryan Aplin his senior year. I'm sure Malzahn called the plays.

Well if true, Anderson would be the 7th current FBS head coach that has been a coach at stAte in the past 10 years.

Wow! This is exactly why any team under consideration for entry into the Belt should have an established winning pedigree. No if ands or buts about it. Teams need to step up when others are in CONSTANT transition.
stAte is not a normal situation

Agreed but just a rough estimate of coaching turnover in the Sun Belt over the previous 3 years 11. That's roughly 21 head coaches at the helm for 10 teams in three years. For good or bad the G5 and particularly the Sun Belt is a tough league to get rolling in.

RE: The carrousel is beginning to turn.
I am amazed that Utah State hired him. I am sure they looked at the last two years and the tragedy plus this crazy year. Problem is the ones that really follow the years prior could see the times he did not have team ready. We got beat in two bowls that we should never have lost. Plus other games in the seasons. It was really past time for him to go. He isn't a terrible coach but he was definitely going the wrong direction at stAte. I hope he does well but I am really glad he is gone.

I have no problem with Lashlee. Some want a defensive coach but we have been successful with offensive guys. Some did not ever want Drinkwitz but is he doing pretty good. Hopefully Lashlee would too.

Maybe they plan on allowing him to recruit a team and not deal with JUCOS and transfers. Has he had that chance?

Gus wasn't calling the plays at SMU and Miami where he served as OC.

That's an interesting question. We famously snubbed Lashlee in 2012 after Malzahn left, and passed him over again in 2013 after Harsin left. Lashlee may have said some things that made everyone believe he would never brighten our doorstep again.

However the Rhett Lashlee that did that was still struggling to make a name for himself and get outside of Malzahn's shadow. The current Rhett Lashlee is one of the top OC names in the country, and we are known for 2 things right now, getting coaches to big name jobs, and for having a pretty much ready built offense for next season.

He will get contacted, how he responds is the question.

Some names:

Kane Womack (Indiana DC)
Graham Harrell (USC OC)
Brian Johnson (Florida QB Coach)

I would expect a littany of former P5 head coaches to give us a call thinking we might be a step back in.

Mark Hudspeth will not be contacted, so no coach Schmedium return.

I’d call Jay Johnson.

You're not keeping a good coach anywhere except the top of the SEC , B1G or Texas.

Kevin Sumlin out at Arizona. He was successful at the G5 level but has not gotten it to work at the P5 level.
