Less than 10 arrests? One or less cars burned? I think a lot of the videos we have seen, such as the ones where they invade a restaurant and scream at people and knock over their drinks, would qualify under those definitions. They do not qualify on the OO definition, though.

Whoever posted it, I think the percentage was 90% or so. I think what 90% peaceful means is that 90% of the people protesting were peaceful and only 10% were engaged in looting, pillaging, burning, and mayhem. Of course, that 10% can do a whole bunch of damage.

Quote:I notice that the BLM protests either quieted down or disappeared in the last two weeks of the campaign. does this mean the racist police stopped murdering black people?

I think you and I both know why. I think they were orchestrated politically to make Trump look bad. When they got the polling back and it was hurting them, not helping them, they issued orders to shut down.

This...
Nobody (at least nobody on here) thinks that ALL democrats or progressives are violent or encourage violence.... but just like many Republicans turn a blind eye to Trumps personal failings, many Dems/Progs turn a blind eye to the violence. I recall on here some were applauding when protestors who were randomly and violently attacking people, were convinced or drawn to 'stop' when they realized that the person they were attacking was handicapped.... which implies a sort of acquiescence to destruction, terrorizing and even personal harm... just not towards the handicapped. What if the person had PTSD and you couldn't 'tell' he was handicapped?

The difference to me is that Trump wearing a mask or not, or talking about wearing one or not doesn't impact whether or not I wear one, nor does it affect ANY Democrats.. and some specifically wouldn't if he did... and of course, many of those who support him would not wear them anyway. They love his style, but only because it matches their 'I don't give a damn' attitude. Similarly, Trump's alleged racism or his attitude towards women doesn't impact me or mine... nor would it any I know. The acceptance of violence DOES (at least potentially) impact me. I wouldn't put out a sign... I was concerned that my neighbor did... I sure wouldn't put a bumper sticker on my car... and the BIGGEST thing that should have learned from the polls, is that some people didn't even answer polls... SOME of them out of being 'targeted'.

Yes, Republicans have had their own issues and Trump made a lot of his own beds... but as an example... Biden never said (as Trump did) that he would pay the legal fees for someone who 'shut up' a heckler... I'm not aware that ANYONE took him up on that... and Dems were all up in arms about Trump inciting violence... but Violence occurred regardless.

You'll have to refresh my memory about the bolded. I don't remember any posted on here applauding protestors who were attacking someone, but then stopped. But we have talked about a lot of crap on this board...

It's almost as if you're saying that protests which claim to be about substantive policies are really more about election results than their supporters care to admit.

But no, that couldn't be!

Honestly, do we know that the number of protests decreased substantially between election day and now?

Looking at media coverage, I'd say the coronarvirus has gone down too, but that isn't true.

Are we just not aware because of how big of a story a presidential election is? And this one, which is exceedingly weird?

Exactly. Coronovirus spiking would otherwise be talked about 24-7 but you hardly here a peep about it relative to the presidential craziness.

Here is the story... the pictures look familiar so it might be the same video... I remember saying something about the guy in the black wife-beater and jhorts.

The right of course was focusing on the attack, and the left was focused on how they stopped. If you don't recall it and want to know, you can look for it yourself. I would be shocked if you hadn't been in that thread and made SOME comment about it yourself.

Literally no recollection of this on the board.

Searching for "palsy" and didn't find anything.

Kind of ironically, I did find a post from you back in July where you made the same statement about someone praising these actions (you didn't say on this board that time): https://csnbbs.com/thread-797972-post-16...id16914820

Prior to that, handicap was only used to discuss voting issues in 2020.

Maybe there was a comment that didn't use the word "handicap," but something tells me that on this board, no one applauded people who had been actively assaulting someone.

Seriously. Not to mention if we had this would have been brought up 30x/day from here to eternity.

Ham... accusing us of applauding people who were assaulting innocent people is a pretty big deal. IMO it's kind of up to you to find it rather than tell Lad.... "I don't know... that was so many posts ago. I imagine you said something. Why don't you go locate it if you don't believe it." Just my $0.02.

It seems to me the protests stopped about 2-3 weeks before the election. Stopped cold. I have seen reports of people being shot, and a report of a grand jury no-billing a cop in such a shooting. All not only without violence, but without protest. You are the guy with the good eye for smoke. Persuade me that all those angry protesters just decided to stay home for a few weeks.

The bolded lines lead me to think you are not reading carefully.

My question was if those protests actually stopped - I don't know if they did.

As I said, news coverage would make you think the coronavirus disappeared, but it clearly didn't. The election has dominated news coverage for the past 2 to 3 weeks, did it just edge out the previous protest coverage?

"Police said the group also acted violently toward others who came to help the man and stop the violence."

I wonder if this was one of the protests classified as "peaceful" or "mostly peaceful".

In any case, this type of demonstration ceased to happen a few weeks before election day.

Empathizing with their cause and defending their anger could well be considered supporting this action. One thing that I wonder - what if the driver had not been handicapped - would there still have been a movement to stop the attacks?

The events were back in July and we have thousands of posts since then.

I remember it.

Can you pull it up? I looked for a bit and couldn't find anyone on this board give the person a pat on the back or even comment on this incident.

Seriously. Not to mention if we had this would have been brought up 30x/day from here to eternity.

Empathizing with their cause and defending their anger could well be considered supporting this action. One thing that I wonder - what if the driver had not been handicapped - would there still have been a movement to stop the attacks?

Empathizing with protesting after incidents like the George Floyd death /= supporting violence against innocent people. Give me a break.

You remember frequent posters on THIS board applauding violence?

Empathizing with [violent] protesting after incidents like the George Floyd death = supporting violence

Turning it around, when I supported the people protesting against the removal of confederate statues, I was told I was supporting racism. When I pointed out that if you just let the white supremacists in Charlotteville (or anywhere) march without attacking them, their actions become like a whisper in a hurricane, I was accused of supporting white supremacy.
