Huge giveaway that there's absolutely nothing to that tweet. It was just made by a fan.
I have to admit, when I see the skinny M I cringe just a little.

haaaaaate the skinny M, still haunts me...
Google still uses it too - if you google "JMU football schedule" you get the skinny M
How is that even possible?

I know our recruiting territory (at least traditionally) and most of our out-of-state students come from the northeast, but as a football fan, would MUCH rather go south in the late fall than north. Some of the schools in that potential SBE are a bit of a drive...but if I tell my wife that we can go to Savannah for a long weekend in October and then get to go to a JMU game Saturday afternoon. Yes please. Add in a non-conference series with ECU, ODU, a few ACC schools, Maryland, etc. I wouldn't mind AAC or CUSA if they could get a similar core group of schools, but SBC (again, if the East division looks like that) looks to be the best spot...which is strange to say.

I keep seeing it on NBCSports TV guide too. Would think the media companies would have been the first to make sure their graphics are current.

About 2:30 PM yesterday an unfamiliar twin engine aircraft kept circling the JMU campus at minimum altitude for 5 or 6 minutes. I say unfamiliar because I am at SHD a lot and just never seen the markings (stripes and graphics) before. I couldn't get the N numbers, so cant run a FAA ck. Just some more kindling, may be nothing or might be something.

Was there a banner trailing behind it that read "JMU 2 FBS" 02-13-bananaCOGS

I feel like JMU used the "we don't want to join a far-flung conference footprint" argument in the past. The AAC was bad and seems to be getting worse in terms of its geographic proximity. I can't imagine JMU joining the AAC at this point based on its membership and footprint but who knows.

RE: Newest Conference Rumor/Discussion 2.0
USA Today picked up the phone and asked people in college football what they think is going to be happening.

Realignment Article

Some tidbits:

- AAC seeks to add CSU, AFA, SDSU and BSU. (On another board, someone noted that the CSU Board of Regents is meeting yesterday and today.) AFA is most eager to go because they'd like an expanded eastern recruiting footprint.
- If none of those schools, or only AFA, comes, AAC would turn to UAB and perhaps Charlotte.
- The MWC would then turn to CUSA schools such as UTSA, North Texas, and Rice.
- CUSA would then go after independents like Liberty or NMSU, or FCS powers such as JMU.
- And there's this quote: 'One thing everybody agrees with is that Division I is too big,” one athletics director said. “At some point, there has to be a line.”

LMAO....this is just proof of what I've been saying to Ga St fans for a while now.

They have NO SHOT at getting in to the AAC and it looks like their AD knows this.

Take it for what its worth (hearsay), but someone I speak to regularly via IM and is close to Boise State administration just told me that one of the western schools that the AAC was after just balked at the idea. San Diego St.? Really only goes to show that the AAC doesn't necessarily have the 'juice' they portray. ESPN contract or not.

If it’s SDSU, that’s fairly widely reported. Believe AAC is hoping for CSU & AFA after BSU & SDSU said no thanks.

Yeah. That was my thought as well.
The AAC members are having a meeting (today?). There is talk of the members not happy with the commissioner. Perhaps they see the regional disaster he is putting the conference in. If they were to vote him out, do the invites to AF and CSU get pulled?

Quite sure it is SDSU. However AAC fans swear up and down that Boise and SDSU will eventually come. It is like that weird mindsetsome have against a top FCS program, yet they were once FCS no too long ago themselves (many in the SBC and CUSA).

People on the Sun Belt board seem convinced that USM. Is being invited. To the point where they're basically posting welcome messages to them.

Feels more likely to be the formal vote on those two no?

RE: Newest Conference Rumor/Discussion 2.0
The American could be doing an interesting pivot with their 4 targets. For the American, in the long run, if they can force out the east coast deadweight like ECU, Temple (assuming Memphis and USF go in Big 12 expansion round 2) that puts their membership essentially from CO to LA.

Even if they were to nab second tier schools from MWC (Fresno St., UNM) plus a few Texas schools, you essentially weaken the MWC by forcing them to call up FCS schools out west to backfill and solidly yourself as a more Southwestern conference. If you look at states that face the largest inward migration (state-to-state), a good number of them would exist in this new footprint. I think that could be a very crafty way for the AAC to stay relevant for the future.

I think as a lot of the Marshall folks have insisted, a more eastern CUSA would be great for JMU. A SBC with Marshall would also be great. We don’t need to get caught up in the AAC’s experimentation.

Right now it's looking more likely CUSA will be the more regional conference for us. The more CUSA western teams are gone, the better chance of CUSA moving farther east and north, which works heavily in JMU's interest.
For JMU to be interested to go to the Sun Belt, there may be too many pieces that to fall in place that do not currently exist. It's still possible, but the current build of the Sun Belt is not in JMU's favor. I would still welcome it over FCS.
The less talk there is of Marshall and/or ODU going to the Sun Belt, the less likely we'll be going there and the more likely it'll be that we are bound for CUSA.
