Although Wichita State would be a financial upgrade from NMSU, I think Jans interest in the Shocker's job is predicated on the manner in which Gregg Marshall is ushered out of town. Jans and Marshall are close. Marshall came to the rescue in Jans' time of need; after getting fired at Bowling Green. I'm not sure Jans wants to step into a job where his mentor was fired. Now, if it were a situation where Marshall was hired away from Wichita State to a bigger paying job, then I believe Jans would be truly interested in the Wichita State job. Just my opinion.

Would WSU want to hire anyone connected to Marshall the way Jans is? Or would they distance themselves as far as possible by going with someone not connected to Marshall?

Historically, programs go as squeaky clean as possible in their next hire.

Now that Wichita State is no longer in the Missouri Valley, I could see Wichita State delve into that conference for their next head coach. Someone like Northern Iowa's Ben Jacobson.
