Jim Justice is horrible and I hardly think of him as a Marshall guy. The man still owes coal companies, machine manufactures like Cat and Royocat millions of dollars that he skipped out on. He put pressure on former coach Royce Chadwick to accept his daughter on the WBB team in 2006. He hasn't donated anything to the university in the last 30 years. And lastly he hasn't done a thing to help the university in Charleston since he became the Gov.

The biggest thing to happen to Marshall since 1961 happened last year when Marshall became an R2 research institution. And that can be attributed to Dr Kopp and his staff and Dr Gilbert and his staff and no one else.

This is the same man that brought cow crap on the senate floor and dumped it on the state budget proposal.

Okay, fair enough.

My mom works at the greenbrier, and they all love him down there.

So I don't know, I'm not talking about it from the politics perspective, just the power position. It's just odd that we haven't worked that angle more, but it sounds like maybe he's just not a good dude?

I know he owes millions up on millions going back years. How certain people can get away with things like this is beyond me. I personally know a former Rayocat manager from Beckley, he still has the invoices from 1992 where Justice bought 6.2 million dollars worth of equipment from them and only paid the 250,000 down payment. That means he still owes them 5.95 million dollars. If he owes them that then you know thats only the tip of the ice.

I don't know the man personally and don't want to. Just know what Ive seen and heard, And the paper trails that show he is dishonest.

Hear you, Think we all think "Nascar" Bob was not the best AD. That said, every university has great alums and some not so much. Very good to hear about Marshall compared to WV. Even though we are public, we are not in the capital and it's more the Boston College programs that feel they are entitled. Hence we are more like yourselves. Really hope we schedule more so I can make the trip to experience things first hand and meet some of you all.

I didn't hate Bob Marcum like so many UMass and Marshall people do. He was at Marshall from 2002 to 2009, and is a Huntington native and Marshall grad. He wasn't the best AD but he was far from the worse (leave that for Lee Moon). He wasn't a money raiser or a facilities builder. The only facility built during his time was Dot Hicks Field (softball). He just kept things on track. The biggest gripe most Marshall fans have including me is he let Miami (FL) and Tennessee out of contracts that were signed before he got there, we had already played at both and they owed us games at home when he let them out without paying a buyout.

RE: Marshall about to add another 2020 game
I don't hate Marcum, I knew his family in Huntington. He had been fired from his position as the athletic director at the University of South Carolina and left UMASS just before he was to be terminated. At Marshall he had no vision for the athletic department. He left the running of the department to a couple of of his assistants. Bob will probably be most remember for his time at MU for some horrible coaching hires. In fairness to Bob, the MU administration was not too interested in the athletic department while he was in Huntington.

Glad the athletic department and especially the football program is back. Marshall was a tough out, when we were still good in basketball. We should be much better now. How's the Herd's BB program. Seem to remember it was about average as of late.

We're not average in basketball.

Our head coach is the brother of Mike
D'antoni, Dan D'antoni.

2 years ago we were in the NCAA tournament, and upset number four seed Wichita State.

Last year was supposed to be a rebuilding year, and we ended up in the top five of our league

We are anticipating a very good team this year.

So Marshall prides itself on both football and basketball.

Danny did have the one very good year when he when be beat Wichita State in the Big Dance. Unfortunately, he got blown out in the second round by rival WVU 94-71.
This is Danny's seventh season at Marshall and it is time to get done. He is 113-92 (.551) overall at MU.

Seriously?

Dan has done an amazing job, he completely rebounded, and picked up a dead program into a very competitive one.

Some people man.

He has done a decent job. CUSA is not a great basketball league. It is a one bid league and usually receives a bid in the 12-14 range to The Big Dance. I am just stating that a good coach should be expected to be have a league leading program by his seventh year. Like someone posted on HerdFans.com, it is time to get it done.

Herd Fans, or any of those other boards are just straight garbage, and if you believe that he hasn't done a good enough job, then you need a reality check yourself.

I mean honestly, what do you expect? Last year was supposed to be a rebuilding year, the fact we were able to get over .500 is a minor miracle.

I'm not just singling you out, for anyone who wants to have their own opinion, go for it. But you're very wrong, what Dan has been able to do is quite impressive, honestly.

And there's room to grow, we have a great core, and we could make another run in the next year or two.

I like Danny, I am just saying he needs to take the program to a higher level. The same goes with any sport, expect them to be successful and win championships on a regular basis. Of course you might occasionally have a down year, but overall should have a high winning percentage and success.

I guess I have higher expectations for the program than you do. I like playing for championships. It is a lot easier to turn around a basketball program or keep it at a high level if the man in charge is a good coach and can recruit good players.

Let's leave it at that.

There is a reason I haven't posted on HF since 2007 or HN since 2004. Those 2 places are toxic as all get out. Both places would rather cannibalize you than listen to an opposing view point.

RE: Marshall about to add another 2020 game
Flat, I respect your opinion, here's mine.

It takes time to lift up a program from nothing...

If you take away his first year, because that was literally picking up scraps, Dan is 102-71 which is around a 70% win percentage.

He loves Marshall, he is the perfect fit for our program.

He is a coach of men, we will always start out weaker, and as the season goes on, and his players implement into his system, we become a much stronger team. Every year.

We are at that point now of competing for championships year in and year out.

So I expect we could give Western Kentucky some fits this year, but going into 2022 we could compete for the championship easily. I don't know what else you want? You said you want to compete for championships, Dan continuously has shown he can do that.

Its not just the negativity. Both places have 10-15 people that seem to be untouchable with their thoughts and opinions and if you happen to disagree with them or have a more logical answer then you are dumb or stupid. They won't just come out and say that but over the course of a long thread you can tell thats what they get at.

HN was even worse when it was independent of Rivals and owned by Carlos. He and his goons, I mean mods would censor things they didn't agree with.
