I love coach DD. I was a casual Marshall basketball fan before DD. He plays an exciting style of basketball, recruits local/regional kids, all good kids who are never in trouble, and we win basketball games. I'm obviously not the only person who feels this way considering we are now averaging around 6k/game for basketball.

It did take DD a little time to figure out the recruiting side of things, but I think he now has that figured out. The last two classes he's brought in have by far been his best recruiting classes. I think this years team can be special, and I think last years team was set up to potentially win the CUSA tournament. We were peaking at the right time.

129 brings up what I was about to.. I felt like Marshall was in as good of a position to win the CUSA Tournament as anyone last year when it was paused. We didn’t lose anyone last year, and with the NCAA approval that this year will not count against eligibility this core team is together for another 2-3 years. Marshall basketball is getting it done...

We were playing our best ball when that tournament started. I really felt like we were going to win it after the first game.

Bob Marcum was the worst AD in the history of Marshall U. Period. It has taken years of patient, hard work by our current AD Hamrick to climb out of the hole "fast dime" Bob dug our athletic dept into. His name should be removed from every piece of paperwork in the Drinko Library! He is still persona non-grata on campus, and he lives too close for comfort (Lex KY). Super big ass hole, that Bob! Otherwise - great guy!!

Bob Marcum can stick it where the sun don't shine. He knee capped Marshall sports and didn't even think twice. Heck we had a movie made about us when he was here and he couldn't even gut us going with that exposure. He changed our mascot to the Scooby Doo with horns and changed our green to forrest! Added the stupid Thunder Dogs to the concessions and wasted tons of money and opportunity with his short sightedness.

Nope that goes to Lee Moon, he killed Marshall basketball for 30 years and then went on to kill Wyoming football. The leadership of Dale Nitzschke and Lee Moon can't be matched. Presidents John Wade Gilley and Dan Angel weren't much better along Yes Man Lance West as AD.

For a 20-25 year period Marshall hires for president and AD lacked leadership and just done the bare min. It wasn't until Dr Kopp was hired in 2005 and Mike Hamrick arrived in 2009 that we had leaders at both president and AD.

If you take away his first year, because that was literally picking up scraps, Dan is 102-71 which is around a 70% win percentage.

He loves Marshall, he is the perfect fit for our program.

He is a coach of men, we will always start out weaker, and as the season goes on, and his players implement into his system, we become a much stronger team. Every year.

We are at that point now of competing for championships year in and year out.

So I expect we could give Western Kentucky some fits this year, but going into 2022 we could compete for the championship easily. I don't know what else you want? You said you want to compete for championships, Dan continuously has shown he can do that.

Danny needs to get it done this year or next. It will be year 7 and 8 of his tenure. I like him a lot as our coach and how he loves the school but it’s time to get it done.

Can you define what "get it done" means to you?

During his time, he's doubled attendance and increased fan interest. He inherited a mess from Herron, and is now consistently building interesting and competitive teams. In the last 4 years alone, he's won a conference title, an NCAA tournament game for the first time in school history, a postseason tournament title, and had us in decent position for the suspended conference tournament last year. He had a winning record in a rebuild year in which he lost 2 of the top 5 scorers in program history. He had an OOC schedule this year that included Kentucky, Va Tech, Xavier, etc. His last two recruiting classes have been the school's best two classes in almost a half decade.

From my chair, he's definitely getting it done.

Maybe a frivolous point, but when was the last time any CUSA b-ball team ended their season in the post season, and 2 seasons in a row won the last game they played? (18-19) & (19-20)

Yes, same with myself and some others. Let's just say he had extremely mixed reviews.

I thought former university president Dan Angel was the one that changed the color because he thought it was more sophisticated.

He’s done well snd you are correct. But do we stop there and be content. Doc’s won a title and bowl games but he doesn’t get a pass. Danny seems to. We are ranked in football as well. I like them both and support both.
