Believe it or not, at SC they pipe the sounds of a rooster cocka-doodle-doing through the PA system. That's supposed to be intimidating, I guess.

no, what pisses off opposing fans is the ridiculous amount of crowd noise you pipe in.

The last time I was down there the stadium literally smelled like piss. My little girl kept saying “daddy this place stinks”, no joke. So visiting fans are literally pissed off.

Penn State pipes everything through their sound system. The Lion roar might be more annoying than anything.

They still do the lion's roar? That was ear-aching, but I don't remember it for some time now.

But a chicken?

Hard to see Georgia getting over the Alabama hump as long as the current guy is QB.

It was a game of halftime adjustments. Georgia really looked like the better team in the first half.

Second half, Alabama found and exploited holes in the deep secondary to make plays, and their D-line started getting pressure on that UGA QB.

Face it folks nobody is getting past the Clemson/Alabama/Alabama/Clemson road block. And what are the odds the Buckeyes are the third entrant? With OU and UT with 2 losses each and the Sun Belt holding wins over Iowa State, Kansas State, and Kansas, I just don't see a Big 12 entrant. And with the PAC playing maybe 5 games I don't see one there unless USC is spectacular. So my question to everyone is who is #4? I think Notre Dame falls maybe twice. UNC now has a bad loss, though FSU is getting stronger. I think #4 will either be Georgia or Ohio State. Georgia if they beat Alabama in the CCG and Penn State if they don't. We'll see.

Final

First SC win over Auburn since 1933.03-banghead

Wow! That's a long time coming!

edit : They only lost 8 in a row though. Lots of teams have streaks like that against elite programs.

It is what it is my friend. I guess they Lee the volume the same assuming every game is going to be a 10/10.

I will say that when we are actually good and the crowd is loud it’s the best atmosphere around. But that’s very rare.

What's encouraging for Alabama is that the defense played genuinely better, a clear improvement over the start of the season.

I agree I wouldn't count out Georgia just yet. They have all the studs that Alabama does. Kirby just hasn't figured out how to coach second half vs Saban, which is surprising, because if Saban, the best coach of the past 50 years, has a weakness, it is in-game adjustments. But in these big showdowns with Georgia, Alabama always wins the fourth quarter. I think at this point it is mental, on the part of the UGA coaches.

The ACC will get Clemson in and nobody else, just because to get two in, a team like UNC or Notre Dame will have to split with Clemson, and Clemson is far, far better than those two teams are so there won't be any splits. UNC was the real chance for a team #2, because they don't face Clemson regular season, but the loss to FSU puts the Kibosh on that.

Figure the SEC champ, the SEC runner-up, Ohio State and Clemson as the most-likely CFP teams. But we really are grasping at straws until we see the B1G start play.

I'm thinking the same thing at this point in time.

Georgia still has to play Florida in Jacksonville to win the SEC East and make it to Atlanta. I haven't given up on the Gators. Texas A&M in College Station is still a good loss in my book.

At least we know Tennessee won't be playing in Atlanta come December. So much for them being a threat. Getting stomped on at home by Kentucky? Is men's basketball season starting early this year?

Yes, Tennessee was overrated, but we all saw that coming. Their streak was built on a very soft SEC schedule.

Kentucky, OTOH, is better than people think. They were better than their initial 0-2 record. Yes, they lost at Auburn, a team that just has more talent, but they were unlucky to lose to Ole Miss. They could easily be 3-1 now. The coaches have genuinely improved UK, we saw that the second half of last year and it has carried over.

I've yet to talk to my friends who are Tennessee fans but I'm braced to hear lots of concerns from them.

I didn't get to see any college football yesterday (very disappointing) but my father watched from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and he gave me the full assessment last night. He said Kentucky is a solid team that is likely better than the average fan realizes.

Exactly. Saban whipped Smart's tail at halftime.

And Smart panicked and started trying to throw all the time. Alabama was doing 7/8 man lines and Georgia was still moving the ball on the ground.

Smart's selection of pass plays was not a good match for what the QB could do. With all those men within a yard or two of the line, Alabama had lots of holes in the secondary.

This was a game with big implications. First, it probably dashes the ACC dream of having two teams in the CFP. UNC and Clemson don't play, so if they had both gone unbeaten and met in a CCG, the loser - UNC - might have been viable depending on how the game went. But now that UNC has a loss that takes them out of the picture.

It also confirms the improvement FSU showed at Notre Dame last week. They have found a QB, and a QB means a lot. Sure, FSU is going to lose more games. But they have risen up off the doormat, at least I think so.

We shall see.
