RE: LA Tech and NFL Hall of Famer Fred Dean Passes Away
Monday Night Football talks about Fred Dean, and how he set the trend for the "Pass Rush Specialist" position in the NFL. Dean won 2 Super Bowls with the 49'ers.

One of the best to ever play at TECH. I believe that we only had 4 losses in 4 years with Fred on the team. He is literally the man that legends are made of, and to my knowledge all of them are true. Even to going to practice and staying for the full practice after being shot earlier in the day.

That's correct. From 1971 thru 1974, LA Tech had a 44-4 record and won 3 NCAA football championships while Fred Dean was on the team.

For such a "small school", LA Tech had an incredible number of players drafted from these teams into the NFL, and most ended up having long careers too. WR Pat Tilly (11 yrs in NFL), WR Roger Carr (10 yrs), DT Fred Dean (11 yrs), TE Mike Barber (10 yrs), FB Roland Harper (8 yrs), DB Larry Anderson (7 yrs), WR Billy Ryckman (3 yrs), RB John Henry White (Drafted by KC Chiefs, but played 10 yrs with BC Lions of CFL) and RB Charles "Quick Six" McDaniel (0 yrs).

These 9 guys all played on at least one of those National Championship teams during that 4-yr period, and contributed to that 44-4 record at LA Tech.
