Whichever is over New Year's is the game which people will travel to, be it the quarters or semis.

Ya. It's a tall ask. The National Championship will also do well as a neutral site because it is the "biggest" game of College Football. The question is where to add a third round. Between NYD and the NC? At either NYD or NC sites (no extra travel)? On campus in early December? Neutral sites in mid-December?

Then again, these are more of TV events. In person attendance is secondary. The first question asked will be which weekend can we get the most TV eyeballs (noting again, the need to work around the NFL). And, I think the answer to that is the third Saturday in December (sure, with a Friday night game too), not NFL Wild Card Weekend.

While the TV dollars will drive the additional teams in the CFP, (some) communities will be wise enough NOT to bid on quarterfinals because they will know that there's little additional tax revenue to be gained, via hotels and surely car rentals as that industry has been desimated in the last year and that's a major source of most sports facility financing over the last two decades.

I see first round New Years, 2nd round on campus the Saturday of NFL week 18, and on campus. I see the semi-finals on Monday and Tuesday night and the NCG on the Saturday of the NFL conference championships games.

The downside is players in the BCG will likely have to pass on the Hula and Senior Bowls.

They really should just play the first round on campus. All of these schools have very good stadiums right there and tons of fans that would show up and pay lots of money to do so. Having three neutral site (four if you count CCGs) in a row seems like a recipe for lots of empty seats.

I know the media and TV execs love NFL stadiums but it really isn't the best if they want a great atmosphere.

I agree with first rounds on home field. The 4 top ranked teams host and draw it up regionally but the only rule would be no conference mates can be drawn together. So no SEC vs SEC first round games. Semi finals in NY6 bowls with matchups with a combination of best matchup and closest distance between the schools.

6 games in round 1, 2 in round 2, 2 in round 3 and 1 in the fourth and final round definitely does not maximize revenue versus 4 games in round 1, 4 games in round 2 then same, same.

Taking those two games from week one to week two increases the total viewing audience. 4+4 gets more total eyeballs than 6+2.
