Trump tests positive for Covid-19, what happens now?
So this crazy presidential campaign just gets crazier with Trump's positive test. Technically he should quarantine through the 2nd debate, though I guess if he can get some negative tests in before the scheduled 2nd debate, perhaps they can move forward with the 2nd debate? And with 2 old dudes at the top of the ticket, seems like this might put a little more focus than usual on the VP debate ... if it can go forward.

And what happens if Trump develops more serious symptoms? Was Biden close enough to Trump during the debate that he needs to quarantine, or at least get off the campaign trail?

Does this affect Barrett's confirmation process? Imagine the 01-rivals-show that will happen if Trump and Pence both have serious enough symptoms that they need to temporarily step aside, giving Speaker Pelosi the powers of the presidency ... and she refuses to sign the commission for Barrett!

2020 has been insane enough, and I can't even fathom what might happen if Trump and/or Pence develop serious symptoms. I sincerely hope neither does and that Trump has a full and quick recovery so this election can continue without further distractions. And I definitely want there to be a townhall debate!

I do not doubt's Big's words. I just think most of the people he stands with are celebrating this turn of events, and would be only too happy for both Trump and Pence to die. Quickly, and in agony, preferably. The hatred runs that deep, as does the desire to win at any cost.

But few would say that publicly. Instead we get Biden and Pelosi keeping them in their prayers. What hogwash! THIS IS the answer to their prayers.

I know three people who who have had the virus. Ages 70, 78, and 84. All with underlying conditions. One hospitalized(78), all recovered.

So, I guess we shall see how Trump's case progresses.

Well, there was a case a long time ago holding that a new president has to deliver the previous president's judicial appointment commission. Pretty big case, as I recall. :)

But in that case the commission was already signed and sealed, just not delivered. Interesting question.

Biden has lost a wife and daughter to an accident and a son to a protracted disease. I don't think he wishes that any family would have to go through what he went through. Just because maybe you would like to see some liberals suffer doesn't mean liberals want to see Trump suffer. As my mom said, she wants to see Trump have a full recover so we can kick his a$$ during the election and then see him held to account for his crimes.

Speaking of heartless...

I too have lost a child. One of my twins is 50; the other will forever be 19. How nice of you to assume that I would like to see some liberals suffer. Just peachy.

After 4 years of hate-Trump and fighting him on every turn, I doubt very many top liberals would be sorry to see him suffer. I have only spoken to one liberal today, and she said with glee in her voice if anybody in this world deserved covid, it was him, and the sicker the better. She had good wishes for Melania though. I asked about Kim Jong Un, Putin, and the Ayatolah of Iran as people who may deserve it more.
She just noted that Trump had killed 200,000 Americans. Note the terminology. She watches a lot of CNN.

I have no doubt that the people at the top of the Democratic party want to win at any cost. I think they would be OK with beating a live Trump, but a dead one insures the win. This is akin to a football staff learning that the starting QB for next week's opponent has broken his leg in the last practice before the game, and his replacement is a walk on who has never played a down. They may offer public condolences - but the secret elation is there. That is why I specifically exempted you from my assessment - you are just a PFC, not a flag officer. But I am sure lots of your Bidenites/Democrats/liberals are the same as the one I spoke to today. And the higher you go, the more likely they are happy with this.

Now stop telling me what I want.

Along the lines of possibilities that Big brought up, if Pence is acting President, can he still cast a tie breaking vote in the Senate?

Because he would be only an Acting President, and not the President, the office of Vice President would not be vacant. Therefore, he would become a very powerful officeholder, and likely in need of even more Secret Service protection.

Back in Jan-March, a lot of people made silly claims, including Biden.

OO - I am happy to stop guessing what you want when you stop guessing what other people want. Until then, it seems hypocritical that you can guess what Pelosi or Biden or other Democrats or liberals want or how they feel, but then get persnickety when someone does the same to you. And I am very sad to hear that you lost a child. I can’t even imagine going through that. I am not sure what it had to do with the specific point I was trying to make (that it is gross to me that you assume the things you assume about someone like Biden). But this got personal certainly in a way that I was not intending so I am more than happy to stop that part of the discussion (that I did not start).

AFAIAC, the discussion started when you decided to take me to task for wanting bad things to happen to liberals, something I did not say nor do I want. That is the part where you told me what I want. I only mentioned my late son because you implied I did not understand Biden’s grief.

I don’t think it is outlandish to think that team leaders are happy with anything that gives their team an edge. Just because they are Democrats does not make them saints.

The night before this was announced, I ALMOST started a thread on here saying that Trump is done... because while at the gym, I'd witnessed one of the most 'in the tank' moments being replayed on every TV there... where apparently Trump said they'd found ballots thrown out in a river and it turned out they were actually thrown out in a ditch... another of DOZENS of examples where somehow magically, Trump's people have an incredibly simple answer that eliminates all of the 'lie'... and the reporter summed it up with 'so there was no river and Trump lied'... The story of ballots in the ditch was true (that the story was reported in the press... I don't know the details of it)... but Trump said 'river' rather than ditch and that somehow disqualifies him for President. What a bunch of ignorant fools we are not to see what's happening.

This is another example and whether you are fostering it because you believe that's what he said and meant... or because you read an article that said that's what he said and meant... or whether (and this I don't believe for you but 100% for others) you're just so against Trump that you know better, but you are willing to ignore truth because it serves a purpose....

When he made that comment... It was preceded by references Biden wanting to shut us down more/again.... about references to states where nobody under 18 has been infected... talking about their great immune systems.... and then it was FOLLOWED by a comment about opening up schools. To ignore or deny that he was referencing young people when he said it impacted virtually nobody and to instead compare it to the larger population... also ignoring his earlier comments that it absolutely impacts people 65+ and people with other problems... and to instead imply that he meant that 200,000 deaths and 7.5mm infections is 'nobody' is just a flat out lie intended to turn the public against a politician. And no, I wouldn't like it if they were doing it to Biden either... and you can certainly find many times where I've said about both Trump AND Hillary... they're bad enough, you don't have to make up lies about them to demonstrate it.

Trump is done.... But under the guise of 'truth and science' we are being manipulated by people who are lying as much or more... and worst, the press is complicit in these lies and none of you care.

Shame on us all for proving him right about 'fake news'.

Watching Jake Tapper yesterday, he used words like "schmucks', liars", and 'reckless disregard".

These are the people the left refers to as unbiased journalists?

I used to think Tapper was one one of the less biased commentators. No more.
