RE: Sources: MAC to Meet about Possible Fall Football
The MAC Presidents are caught in a tough place.

You know privately they want to sit out. CDC Tracker shows cases on the upswing again, some of it born out of return to school. The cancellations like Notre Dame now. Fear of what November and December will look like. And of course the cost.

Sitting out means years of repairing damage to brand, recruiting and player/coach morale, especially if the PAC12 and MWC leap back in, although we will get some applause from some public circles for sticking to our guns. Our on-field performance will really resemble FCS for at least a while.

Not an easy decision by any means.

6 instead of 8 might help sway the more reluctant ones. But I say it’s a 50-50 chance the vote goes through. I guess it depends on whether it must be unanimous or if a few will/can opt out.

While liking the 6 game schedule, like starting Oct 17th and playing every other week through 12/12 for any possible Covid issues.

"Sitting out means years of repairing damage to brand..."

Just initiate the 6 game season immediately. See it through if everyone else does, call it off if other major conferences do as well. Need to push forward, these kids will hang with their buddies (with no masks on) anyway if not on the gridiron.

Do you have inside sources or are you hanging onto a narrative?

From what I have read (not sure how credible), several Presidents have been on board, mainly CMU and WMU. It sounds like NIU may be out.

I think they will play a shortened season. It seems to please both crowds.

It's just a guess. I'm going off the decision this past Saturday. For that I predicted some would play, some wouldn't. Saturday showed me they're not jumping up & down to play, & I don't think a WMU or CMU is that much better financially then a UA or EMU so a decision would be across the board

Assuming the Covid can be kept in check to the best of abilities- seems that the $$ game day costs/travel etc for a 6 game season are hopefully covered by CFB ESPN $$- which none of tha MAC schools will recieve w/o product to televise? "break even"??

Assuming break even on $$cost to play vs $$ recieved by CFB TV contract(+ maybe bowl game for MAC champ(?))- fall football should be all "upside" to playing via exposure/maction/ FBS etc and seems worth the" try". I hope we attempt a 6game+MACC schedule.

If the MAC can’t slip in a 6 game schedule this fall, might as well do it in the spring and eventually lump us in with the rest of the FCS ...
End game... 03-banghead

ND/Wake Forest moved to Dec.12.

Interesting. The article's at least spinning it to sound promising.

I think the cross-over game should be random draw (w/ exception of UT/BGSU)

I wish they were shooting for 8 games but I understand how a 6 game schedule would check all the boxes so to speak,,,(player testing more manageable, less travel exposure, easy to create schedule, limits expenses after loss of big $ games, etc...)

The real question is who is in and who is out? Is everyone in? It will be interesting to see.

P12 just announced they are playing a 7 game schedule.
